Four signals in one compact unit

Rockboard is best known for its smart solutions for pedalboards, but the German company's range goes well beyond the needs of pedal fans. The Rockboard LM 4, for instance, is a four‑channel mono line-level mixer: This compact device offers four 1/4" inputs and one output, for a whole host of uses on stage and in the studio. But it wouldn't be RockBoard if weren't also a practical tool for pedal fans – the LM 4 is ideal for creating parallel signal paths with multiple effects units. This wallet-friendly mixer also features a very simple control layout, with just four dials to adjust the individual channels' levels. And with its ultracompact size of 102 × 58 × 45mm, it could almost fit in a wallet, too – certainly, it's not much larger than a pack of playing cards.

Distortion? Forget it!

The electronics on the RockBoard LM 4 ensure line‑level signals with exceptionally low self‑noise, delivering a signal‑to‑noise ratio of 95dB. When used with a high‑quality input signal, it'll performs reliably in a huge range of applications, making it suitable for both live and studio environments. With a total harmonic distortion of 0.009%, this compact mixer also operates with extremely low distortion; this figure falls well below the threshold at which the human ear can perceive harmonic artefacts. As a result, the audio signal at the output remains almost entirely unaltered. A 12V DC power supply is included to ensure stable operation.

Four in one!

Guitarists, producers, and stage techs who often have to route up to four mono audio signals to a single destination will find exactly what they need in the RockBoard LM 4. It's particularly practical when the main audio interface or mixing console only has a limited numbers of inputs, but it also allows guitarists to run different effect chains in parallel. This makes the LM 4 useful not only in project studios, but also for more complex on-stage pedalboard setups that need to combine several effects into a summed signal – for example, blending a fuzz with a high‑gain drive to dial in a really unique sound. As with all line-level mixers, it's essential that the signals already have the necessary amplification; with many standard microphones, for instance, the signal is often too weak for this purpose, so they require a dedicated preamp.

Kleines Helferlein
nk22 20.01.2025
