Solid-state bass amplifier head

The TC Electronic BAM200 is a pocket-sized bass amplifier head delivering 200W of Class-D power in a rugged steel chassis. Weighing less than 1kg and no larger than two standard pedals, it fits easily into a gig bag or backpack, yet delivers more than enough punch for rehearsals, studio work, and small-to-medium gigs. Designed for modern bassists seeking a highly portable solution, the TC Electronic BAM200 delivers powerful performance in a format that can be transported effortlessly – and all without breaking the bank.

MOSFET tone shaping and DI output

The preamp stage of the TC Electronic BAM200 features a specially designed high-voltage MOSFET circuit that emulates the warmth, responsiveness, and harmonic richness of a tube amp. Its intuitive 3-band EQ allows quick tonal adjustment across a wide range of playing styles and basses. A balanced DI output is included for direct connection to a PA system, mixer, or audio interface – ideal for live gigs, studio sessions, or patching the signal to an in-ear monitoring setup.

Road-tough and studio-ready

The TC Electronic BAM200 also doubles as a silent practice tool, thanks to its integrated headphone amplifier with speaker emulation –providing realistic amp tone with no need to connect a cabinet. Whether at home or on the road, players can practise quietly while still retaining the feel of a miked tube amp. On the road, the advanced protection circuitry shields against short circuits, thermal overload, and low-impedance loads, while the shock-resistant casing ensures long-term durability.

About TC Electronic

The Danish company TC Electronic has been known for its innovative products for many years. It was founded in 1976 by brothers Kim and John Rishøj in Aarhus. The company first made a name for itself with the SCF, a stereo chorus/flanger pedal for guitar. Studio equipment followed during the 80s and 90s, notably the legendary TC2290 digital delay in 19-inch rack format. Since the 2000s, TC Electronic has greatly enriched the guitar and bass scene with amplifiers, cabinets, combos, and effects pedals. Here too, TC's innovative spirit is in evidence, for example with its TonePrint technology and the first polyphonic guitar tuner. TC Electronic has been part of Music Tribe since 2015.

Versatile tool for modern players

Ideal as a main amp, backup head, or portable DI solution, the TC Electronic BAM200 delivers in a wide range of applications without compromising tone or output. From couch rehearsals to live shows, it provides a no-fuss interface, robust feature set, and impressive low-end definition. Whether used on stage, in the studio, or in a hotel room between gigs, the BAM200 offers micro-format convenience with the tone and punch of a much larger head – at a price accessible to players of all levels.

Best amp to carry around
marius_b 16.02.2020
I have bought this amp to carry it to any small gigs I have. I have other amp but they are heavy and not ideal to bring them to any gig or practice room. With Bam200 I simply take it on my pocket or gig pocket and I am good to go. It is powerful enough to drive up to 200W cabs. I pair it with a Phil Jones usually and I am really about the sound and the weight!

Pro:
- light and easy to carry around
- simple interface but all you need to play bass
- the tone is decent, is better than any combo I have ever tried (I cannot complain about the tone due to its size/price/etc)
- the construction is very sturdy and I like the look
- it has headphones input

In regards of cons I cannot say anything since I know that such a small amp cannot have that many features and I have no hardware or any issue with the amp. It is really smart made, I am a fan of TC electronic products and I am really happy about this. The price is really good, less than most of the bass DI pedals and it is an amp actually which is far more useful that just a DI.

If this would be stolen from me I would definitely buy another one. Actually I would buy another one to have it just in case!

Hugely Impressed!
Burchy 28.05.2019
As a user of a TC BG250 210 combo I was expecting a quality product, however, this little amp is better than expected.
I wanted the flexibility of amp head and separate cabs due to playing in many different sized venues.
I used this for the first time at the weekend with a 4 piece band (Drums, 2x Guitar and Bass) and it performed brilliantly.
I ran it with 2x BC208 cabs and they kept up with the live drummer and 2 guitars without being put through the PA system. Tone was good and cut through the mix with clear mids. Bandmates were surprised at the volume and clarity offered by this rig and the small footprint also went down well.
It's really easy to use with the controls being clear, simple and effective. The tone controls enable everything from reggae dub tone to bright slap sounds and everything inbetween.
Be warned though, the manual describes the signal LED as a clip warning. This is not the case. When lit green it simply confirms a signal, when lit red its a clip warning that gain should be reduced.
Overall I would recommend this product to any level of bass player be it as your go to amp or as an effective spare you can keep in your gig bag.

Powerful and Portable

Incredible little (very little!) bass head with great warm tones and plenty of power for home practice and small gigs. Being quiet in operation as there is no fan is a nice bonus, especially at home. Fits in a gig bag pocket with room to spare. I love using it as a headphone amp - no need to have a cabinet connected - just some headphones! A solid unit with smooth controls. Superb value!

DB
It literally does fit in my pocket
Dr Bassman 05.08.2021
I knew the BAM200 is a pocket amp. I could see it was small. I had even noted the dimensions. However, it's not until you take it out of its carton, and hold it in the palm of your hand, that you realise how small this amp is. Seriously, the power cable feels heavier and it looks lost and lonely when placed on its bass cab.

Anyhow, once I had hooked it up to my Albion 3ooW 1×12" + 1×15" 4 ohm cab, ai connected a Squier medium scale, single Humbucker, Jaguar bass to get a feel for what the BAM200 could do.

The gain control is clean and ended up being set at a very reasonable 60%. The bass, mid and treble controls started at 12 O'Clock, but I quickly pulled the bass and mid back to around 10 O'Clock and pushed the treble up to Two O'Clock. It sounds great. The EQ is very responsive and it's a very clean / low noise amp.

My only problem so far is that the master volume hasn't been above 20% (max), and is damned loud at 10%, indoors.

I'm looking forward to taking it out for a test drive, somewhere around the 100W / 50% mark. In the meantime, it looks to me like an excellent bass amp, especially given the price. Oh, did I mention how small it is...?!?!?
