An immensely powerful PA amp

The TA 2400 MK-X is an immensely powerful and phenomenally reliable power amplifier from Thomann's in-house brand the t.amp, offering a solid foundation for a variety of audio setups. On its rear panel, two outputs are provided in both Speaker Twist and terminal block formats, while each channel delivers 1200W into 4 ohms and 760W into 8 ohms, ensuring generous headroom for clear, distortion-free performance in clubs, larger rehearsal spaces, or even open-air venues. Especially when switched to bridge mode, it can power even the largest subwoofers with ease, adding depth and punch to the low end, especially for electronic music. With built-in protection circuits and an integrated limiter to prevent overload, this amplifier will function perfectly at the heart of almost any PA system, where it can be relied on for consistent, flexible sound.

Straightforward operation, flexible options

The TA 2400 keeps operation straightforward and intuitive, with just two volume controls for the channels, while their LEDs provide clear feedback on input levels and warn of any distortion or faults at a glance. All connections are neatly arranged on the rear panel, where lockable NL4 sockets ensure a secure link to traditional PA speakers, alongside screw terminals that allow easy connection to hi-fi speakers when needed. A wide range of line sources can be connected via the XLR and jack inputs, from compact audio interfaces to everyday playback devices. This flexibility supports anything from a classic stereo PA for larger live venues to a high‑powered mono setup for club installs. Multiple operating modes add another subtle layer of adaptability.

Stereo, parallel or bridge mode

The TA 2400 MK-X offers three operating modes, Stereo, Parallel and Bridge, allowing it to adapt smoothly to different audio setups with minimal effort. In Stereo mode, both outputs handle a standard stereo signal for typical PA use, while Parallel mode routes the signal from Input A to both channels with independently adjustable volume, making it ideal when a single source needs different levels across two areas. In either configuration, the available power is more than sufficient to fill the largest everyday spaces with sound, easily putting out bass-heavy music for hours at a time, night after night. Bridge mode combines the full output of both channels into a single, more powerful signal delivered through the red terminals, making it possible to drive even touring-grade subwoofers with as much wattage as they can take. The ground lift switch on the rear panel helps eliminate unwanted noise caused by ground loops, ensuring clean and reliable performance.

About the t.amp

the t.amp is one of the many in-house brands belonging to Musikhaus Thomann, and since 1998 has offered power amplifiers, complete passive PA sets, keyboard amplifiers, and connection systems. The brand’s entire product range delivers an impressive combination of quality and reliability at attractive prices, and users can find a convincing and affordable solution for every application: From youth clubs and sports halls through to congress centres and much more.

Reliable amplification for professional PA systems

The affordable and robust TA 2400 is designed with professional stereo PA applications in mind, offering a dependable solution for a wide range of setups while remaining easy to integrate. For added durability and a more permanent installation, it can be mounted in a 19" rack, where it occupies two height units with a mounting depth of 44cm, so users should be aware of the space they have to work in, as well as taking the impressive weight of the amp's hard-working components into account. Alongside its built-in limiter, which helps prevent overload, the unit includes multiple protection circuits that guard against overheating, short circuits, DC voltage, overcurrent and infrasound, ensuring consistent and safe operation. Two rear-mounted fans provide effective cooling, while the fuse holder above the power connection allows for quick replacement if needed, bringing together a set of features that support reliably loud performance with a quietly reassuring level of resilience.

TA2400

At first i was worried this amp would be one of those budget line amps which would get hot at the turn of the power switch but when i recieved the package, installed it in my rack and tested it at 8ohm per channel on two pd1550's i knew from the pressure levels coming through the driver and the constant cool air flow entering and exciting the back, that this amp would be a front runner compared to other amp's around this price range.

on the second test I put in a pair of Colossus 15xb & PD1550 through 4ohm per side, each driver sounded beautiful and pushing the amp hard, it produced a great amount of sub, the amp ran cool for hours.

I've recently ordered a proline to take care of these two drivers as I am happy the ta2400 will run anything less powerful that the two above drivers with no sweat at all.

Real good price, Real stable amp, My rack will be seeing more of these baby's in the near future

Old-school muscle – Unbeatable raw power for the price
ZeTRukes 16.03.2026
For me, I prioritize performance and reliability over marketing hype. My journey with the TA 2400 MK-X had a rough start—I initially ordered a B-Stock unit that arrived DOA. However, knowing the reputation and speccs for this "classic" design of amp, I didn't hesitate to order a brand-new unit, and I’m glad I did.

This amplifier is built the "old-school" way. It’s heavy (nearly 20kg) and houses a massive toroidal transformer, which is exactly what you want when driving subwoofers. Unlike some modern, lightweight Class D amps that struggle with low-frequency transients, the TA 2400 provides the raw current and headroom needed to keep the low-end tight and authoritative.

I am currently using it to power two subwoofers, and the performance is outstanding. It doesn't break a sweat, even during long sessions at high volumes. The cooling system is effective, and the build quality is tank-like. Yes, it’s heavy, but that weight translates into a power supply that won't fail you when the bass hits hard.

You also must be aware of its physical dimensions. This unit is exceptionally deep. Including the two metal protection tabs at the rear, it reaches a total depth of 475mm. This is a significant footprint that will not fit in standard shallow or "short" racks. You must ensure your rack case has enough clearance for both the unit and the cable connectors, otherwise, you risk damaging your wiring or the ports.

If you are looking for a high-performance power amp with an incredible price-to-quality ratio and you don't mind the weight, this is a legendary workhorse. Powerful, and reliable.

S
Experience from 3 years of use.
Sami4197 05.01.2015
This is a good amplifier with tons of power with small price.
I purchased this 3 years ago.

About the quality:
At first our unit suffered from broken channel.
This was quicly repaired with the Thomann warranty.
(This problem occured only after few weeks of use).

After the warranty repair I have had 3 happy year with this amp.
No problems. Just pure power.
The unit has been in very heavy use at the rehearsal rooms aswell as on the road in live shows.

Despite of the initial problems and the warranty repair I can recommend this amp strongly.
Enough that I am now considering to buy a second similar amp so that I dont need to take this away from the rehearal room when we have live shows.
We have also a smaller t.Amp amplifier for our live monitor amplification that has also worked fine for us.

Great quality for a decent price.

We have used this amp for our backline speakers for years now and it just works every time. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another if this one stopped working but this amp owes us nothing for the length of service it has given us.
