The Sennheiser e 865 S is a professional, permanently polarised condenser microphone featuring a supercardioid polar pattern, specifically engineered for vocal applications. As a condenser microphone, it delivers highly detailed and articulate sound reproduction, raising the bar for live vocal clarity. Built to withstand the demands of touring and stage use, it is highly resistant to feedback and will capably handle high sound pressure levels while also effectively suppressing unwanted noise. This "S" version also features a noiseless on/off switch for added control during performances, and the package additionally includes a microphone clamp and a padded pouch for convenient storage and protection.
Transparent, natural, and precise
The rugged Sennheiser e 865 S operates on 12 to 48V phantom power, making it an excellent partner for professional audio systems. Its permanently polarised condenser capsule provides natural and powerful vocal reproduction, along with an extended dynamic range. A subtle frequency boost between 2.5kHz and 10kHz enhances the mid and treble frequencies, adding a clarity and a presence that captures even the most delicate vocal nuances. This blend of precision and detail makes the e 865 S a top-tier option for both vocal and speech applications.
Perfect for speakers and singers
Singers, presenters, and speakers will value the outstanding sound quality provided by the Sennheiser e 865 S's permanently polarised condenser capsule. Its consistent performance, even with changes in distance or when speaking off-axis, makes it especially effective in dynamic presentation settings. With a phenomenal maximum sound pressure level of 150dB, this mic can handle even the loudest signals without distortion. Yet, weighing as it does just 311g, it also feels comfortable in the hand for extended use. Altogether, the Sennheiser e 865 S offers reliability, clarity, and ease of use – ideal for powerful and confident performances.
About Sennheiser
In June 1945, Prof. Fritz Sennheiser founded the Wennebostel Laboratory, which initially produced measuring equipment. Commissioned by Siemens in 1945, the young company developed the MD-1 microphone, which was launched in 1946. After the development of further microphones, the company was renamed Sennheiser Electronic in 1958. Two years later, Sennheiser introduced the MD 421 dynamic microphone, which is still in production today and still held in high esteem by many sound engineers. Further groundbreaking developments, such as the HD 414 headphones and the classic MD 441 microphone, hugely enhanced the company's international reputation, eventually making Sennheiser one of the leading manufacturers of microphone and headphone systems in the world.
Always on the move
The professional e 865 S from Sennheiser is a top-tier condenser microphone, built to withstand the demands of live performances. Its rugged metal housing and reinforced grille offer dependable protection against physical impacts, while its excellent feedback suppression and outstanding resistance to handling noise ensure a clean, interference-free sound. A practical bonus is that the microphone's grille is removable, which makes both cleaning and maintenance significantly easier.
