Shine a light on you

The German company RockBoard is known throughout the music world for smart solutions, with a lineup full of all kinds of handy little helpers and pedalboard accessories. At the helm is the experienced team from Warwick, who draw on decades of know‑how to make every musician's life as smooth as possible. In this 50cm RockBoard LED Base Strip, which comes with a remote control, they've come up with a practical and visually appealing lighting option for pedalboards: Now, a pedalboard can not only be the key to an artist's unique sound, but also give them a personalised look on stage. What's more, a subtly downlit pedalboard will soon turn out to be more useful on poorly illuminated stages than guitarists used to working in the dark might expect.

Plug in, rock out

The clever thing about a RockBoard LED Strip is that it can be powered by any standard pedalboard power supply: It needs 5 to 12V at around 130mA, which any decent PSU can deliver. Quite literally plug and play! The self‑adhesive LED strip offers various lighting modes, all controlled via the remote control. Different colours and intensities, brightness levels, and colour changes and speeds can all be adjusted. Each time the pedalboard is switched on, the desired operating mode has to be selected again, but thanks to the remote's simple and familiar layout, that's no hassle at all.

Growing on me

Installing the RockBoard LED Strip is no big deal, as the entire strip is self-adhesive. Still, there are a few small details worth keeping in mind. The package includes an alcohol pad to clean the spot on the pedalboard where the strip is to be mounted: This is a nice touch, as dust, dirt, and fingerprints can affect the adhesive's durability. To keep everything tidy underneath the pedalboard and stop the cables from getting out of hand, two self‑adhesive clips and three cable ties are included to neatly secure the strip's 21cm cable and socket. The neat thing about this Base Strip is that it's freely expandable: By adding one or more of the 50cm or 80cm Extension sections, guitarists can create an individualised setup for even the largest pedalboard, or indeed any other bit of on-stage gear.

About RockBoard

RockBoard is part of the Warwick group, which is based in Markneukirchen in Germany's Vogtland region. RockBoard's range focuses on pedalboards, which are available in numerous different designs to suit any application and budget. They are complemented by an extensive range of accessories, from slick patchbays for expanding the boards and high-quality patch cables for loss-free connection through to high-performance power adapters and the QuickMount system for rapid effect changes. In short, RockBoard offers virtually everything that players need to easily set up their own individual pedalboard.

No more dancing in the dark

For some musicians, their pedalboard is almost as important as the actual instrument they play. With that in mind, it's understandable to want to personalise this crucial part of the setup too. Of course, good lighting on dark stages isn't purely a matter of appearances: Plenty of players can pull off their pedalboard tap‑dance blind, but one wrong step can turn that shredding solo into an unplugged ballad. It's in moments like this that the RockBoard LED Strip proves it isn't just a pretty face: It's a reliable way of making day-to-day life on stage that much more simple.
