An ultracompact headphone amp
RockBoard is best known for its smart solutions for pedalboards, but the German company's range goes well beyond the needs of pedal fans. The Rockboard HA 4, for instance, is a compact headphone power amp with a stereo input and four separate stereo output channels. The device is extremely robust, while delivering clear, pro-grade audio: Measuring 102 x 58 x 45mm, it's incredibly compact, too – with a footprint not much larger than a pack of playing cards, it will fit into any setup. This cost‑effective amplifier also stands out for its simple control layout, with four volume controls for adjusting each performer's individual level.
Distortion? Forget it!
With +20 dBU, the Rockboard HA 4 has plenty of headroom on each of the four individual stereo amplifiers, and will work reliably with all types of headphones. Both the input and output use 6.35mm TRS sockets – if the headphones use a different connector, an additional adapter will be required. With a total harmonic distortion of 0.009%, this compact mixer also operates with extremely low distortion; this figure falls well below the threshold at which the human ear can perceive harmonic artefacts. Even high-end headphones will reproduce the audio signal virtually unaltered, so none of the band will be complaining about their monitoring. A 12V DC power supply is included to ensure stable operation.
For really organised recordings
Most audio interfaces provide one or at most two headphone outputs – and it's in exactly these situations that a band's sound engineer needs a multi‑channel headphone amp: To provide functional monitoring for several musicians, at a quality exceeding that of standard passive splitters. The Rockboard HA 4 is designed precisely for these applications and offers a solution that is easy to operate and can be integrated quickly into an existing system. This turns a home‑recording setup into a functioning tracking studio for up to four musicians in no time. Simply run a backing track, live monitoring, or a click track and get on with enjoying the jam – all at a fair price point!
About RockBoard
RockBoard is part of the Warwick group, which is based in Markneukirchen in Germany's Vogtland region. RockBoard's range focuses on pedalboards, which are available in numerous different designs to suit any application and budget. They are complemented by an extensive range of accessories, from slick patchbays for expanding the boards and high-quality patch cables for loss-free connection through to high-performance power adapters and the QuickMount system for rapid effect changes. In short, RockBoard offers virtually everything that players need to easily set up their own individual pedalboard.
The right device for every setup
The Rockboard HA 4 4‑channel headphone amplifier won't just come in handy in a carefully planned recording setup; it'll also perform well in live settings where the band needs an easily managed monitor mix. The HA 4 is also plenty robust enough to be taken on tour, and this ultracompact headphone amp can be carried in any instrument bag without difficulty. These features in particular, along with its great affordability, also make the RockBoard HA 4 a key part of a flexible backup plan should the on-stage monitor speakers fail. In combination with the HA 2 passive in‑ear volume controllers, the HA 4 delivers a coherent system that offers performers and their crew a cost‑effective and flexible monitoring solution.
