Affordable passive in-ear monitoring

RockBoard is best known for its smart solutions for pedalboards, but the German company's range goes well beyond the needs of pedal fans. The RockBoard HA 2 In‑Ear Volume Controller is a passive, wired level control unit for managing a personal in‑ear mix – all in a compact bodypack format. Its robust construction ensures reliable operation in situations where a straightforward plug‑and‑play monitoring solution is required – without wireless systems or other potential points of failure that can complicate a setup. Musicians and stage techs seeking a cost‑effective and compact monitoring option that requires no additional power supply have found the right tool right here.

No batteries required!

The RockBoard HA 2 In‑Ear Volume Controller can be operated in both mono and stereo modes, with a switch on the control surface provided for this very purpose. The main feature of the HA 2 is the volume control that adjusts the signal level by altering the input impedance. Its passive wiring means that no additional power supply – such as a battery or rechargeable unit – is required; however, an external headphone amplifier will be necessary to drive the initial signal. To prevent accidental disconnection, the XLR/TRS input socket is equipped with a locking mechanism. The HA 2 is compatible with any headphones or in‑ear monitors fitted with a standard 3.5mm mini‑jack connector.

The sturdy metal belt clip keeps it securely in place, giving performers the confidence they need to move freely on stage. Its metal construction also ensures a high degree of durability. Anyone looking for an affordable monitoring solution that's easy to operate and delivers reliable performance will find the RockBoard HA 2 to be a great choice.

About RockBoard

RockBoard is part of the Warwick group, which is based in Markneukirchen in Germany's Vogtland region. RockBoard's range focuses on pedalboards, which are available in numerous different designs to suit any application and budget. They are complemented by an extensive range of accessories, from slick patchbays for expanding the boards and high-quality patch cables for loss-free connection through to high-performance power adapters and the QuickMount system for rapid effect changes. In short, RockBoard offers virtually everything that players need to easily set up their own individual pedalboard.

As loud as you like

With the RockBoard HA 2 In‑Ear Volume Controller, musicians can quickly and independently adjust the volume of their own in‑ear mix in virtually every setting: It serves as a practical tool for musicians in the studio, on stage, or in the rehearsal room. To ensure proper operation of the compact volume controller, a suitable headphone amplifier must be integrated into the system: For this very purpose, RockBoard also offers the cost‑effective HA 4, a four‑channel headphone amplifier capable of driving up to four sets of headphones simultaneously with a professional, noise‑free signal. For more flexible setups, the HA 1 – an active version of the HA 2 equipped with its own amplifier – is available as a compact single‑channel device.

Works directly from an XLR output on the mixer.

I have two, one Rockboard HA 1 and this one, which is passive. And honestly, I regret buying the Rockboard HA 1 because this one sounds great. Directly from the mixer's AUX output, it has plenty of volume.

Jest kilka ale
Tim Fialka 22.05.2025
