Initially I tried guitar strings on my Gitarrenlaut, although acceptable they were nowhere near as good as the proper Lute strings. Much better volume, and much easier to play. Worth every penny.

Diese Saiten habe ich auf einer alten Gitarrenlaute aufgezogen welche sich aus einem muffigen Sacristeischrank zu mir verirrt hat. Diese Saiten klingen nicht besonders charakteristisch, eigentlich eher etwas warm und weich und wenig differenziert in den Höhen (was nicht am Instrument liegt) dafür haben sie einen guten angenehmen Griff und sind gut aufeinander abgestimmt.
Versuche mit Gitarrensaiten lieferten einen weitaus lebendigeren Klang, brachen aber auch Probleme mit der Lautstärke einzelner Saiten...
