Round-base stability, compact footprint
The K&M 26145 is a heavy-duty microphone stand from K&M's Topline series, built around a solid cast-iron round base and steel shaft – for situations where stability and a minimal stage footprint are essential. Unlike tripod stands, the round base sits flush to the floor with no splayed legs to trip over – a practical advantage on busy stages, in theatre pits, or in studio environments where floor space is managed carefully. The integrated telescopic boom extends the stand's reach without increasing its footprint, allowing precise mic placement while keeping the base where it is. The stand ships with a cable clip and a standard 3/8" thread adapter.
Simple, reliable adjustment
Height adjusts from 1m to 1.7m via a twist clutch on the main tube – turn to lock, turn back to release, no tools required. The mechanism is quiet enough to reposition mid-performance without distraction. The boom passes through a yoke clamp on the main shaft, sliding through to set reach and pivoting to adjust angle, with both axes locked by a single tightening collar. A wide range of mic positions is possible – from close vocal work at standing height to angled placements for brass or strings. Both adjustments hold securely under the weight of a heavy condenser or a large-diaphragm dynamic, and the cast-iron base provides enough ballast to keep the stand planted even with the boom extended at a steep angle.
Stand by me
At 6.2kg, the K&M 26145 is weighted for stability rather than quick teardown. The round base and steel construction make it a natural fit for vocalists and instrumentalists who set the stand once and leave it there. Theatre and broadcast environments benefit from the flush footprint and silent adjustment; studio engineers running fixed setups appreciate the consistent, repeatable positioning session to session. The trade-off is straightforward: This is not a stand to carry between venues every night. For touring applications where weight and pack-down speed matter, a lighter tripod stand is the more practical choice.
About K&M
Founded in 1949, König & Meyer (K&M) initially produced music stands and measuring tools. Just two years later, the range was expanded to include instrument stands and microphone tripods, which are still the core business of the manufacturer today – and are still manufactured in their facilities in Wertheim, Germany. K&M also produces musicians' stools, stands for speakers, monitors, and lighting, and a range of accessories for mobile devices, such as tablet mounts. To satisfy the company's own exacting standards, even the individual metal and plastic components continue to be manufactured primarily in the company's factory in Wertheim, with particular emphasis placed on environmentally friendly and sustainable production.
Placement options
The boom's reach and the stand's stability open up more applications than close vocal work alone. At full height with the boom extended, the K&M 26145 can serve as a drum overhead or choir ambience mic – the cast-iron base keeps it planted even when the boom is fully extended above head height. Two units set wide can handle A/B stereo miking of a choir, a grand piano, or a string section without any risk of a stand shifting between takes. Closer in, the boom allows a trumpet or violin to be miked with the capsule precisely placed without the stand encroaching on the musician's movement. For occasional transport, the optional K&M 26019 carrying bag – water-repellent, tear-resistant nylon with padded handles and shoulder strap – accommodates up to three round-base stands (sold separately).
