Great little thing

I wanted to try the A-105, this module's predecessor, but it went out of production a long time ago. I saw this had been released in a more compact format which looked perfect for me.

Handles well - smaller form-factor means slightly more finicky than regular sized doepfer modules but still easy to use.
Good feature inclusion for the the size, two inputs for audio as well as for resonance is a nice addition.
Sound is excellent - creamy (whatever that means), can go into self-oscillation, and can sound great when driven (nice and thick).
Quality is the usual for Doepfer, very good.

All in all I'm pleased and will keep it in my modular for years to come.

Der SSI2144 ist der Nachfolger vom SSM2044 Analogfilter, der laut Internetrecherche z.B. im PPG Wave 2.3, Korg Monopoly oder Polysix eingebaut ist. Der Chip ist ein 4-Pol Tiefpassfilter mit Resonanz. - Cutoff und Resonanz sind im Doepfermodul per CV ansteuerbar. Das klappt bisher auch ganz gut, klanglich ist das Modul recht fett und satt. Die voll aufgedrehte Resonanz ergibt keine Eigenoszillation.
Insgesamt erinnert der fette Filtersound an Moog-artiges (Ladder Filter), daher beim Sound 5 Sterne. (Über die Haltbarkeit der Bauteile insgesamt kann ich noch nichts sagen, da erst 2 Tage im Betrieb.) Die Optik des Moduls ist schick und gefällt einem, wenn man schwarze Module mag. Was ich auch positiv finde, ist der geringe Platzbedarf. Die Knöpfe sind dabei trotzdem einigermaßen gut zu erreichen. Die Potis fühlen sich mechanisch gut an. Insgesamt also eine Empfehlung, wenn man den satten Sound mit 24dB/Oct. wünscht.
