Powerful processor, precise pads
The AKAI Professional MPC Live III comes with 16 RGB-lit pads that can be used to trigger samples, with four encoders for adjusting assignable parameters. The high-res 7" multi-touch display makes it easy to craft beats with precision, and the encoder for navigating the menu is a decent size too; right beneath the screen are buttons for transport controls like record and play. Above the drum pads are further settings for live musicmaking, like Full Level and Note Repeat. The drum synth comes with eight different synth engines, giving producers genuinely deep sound design options. Audio is processed in 32-bit floating point quality. And with an 8-core processor under the hood, it's got four times the power of its predecessor – so nothing's holding the next cutting-edge production back.

Building beats that'll last
The AKAI Professional MPC Live III is a great fit for music producers whose first love is Hip-Hop and R'n'B. And thanks to the built-in lithium-ion battery, they can take it on the go and use it for up to five hours without plugging it in. About Akai Professional
Akai Professional has its origins in the long-established Japanese company Akai, founded in 1929, which initially manufactured electric motors, soon to be followed by high-quality tape recorders and hi-fi products. Since 1988, Akai has also become a household name like no other on the Hip-Hop scene. With the development of its first MIDI Production Centre (MPC for short), created in collaboration with Roger Linn, Akai wrote history by decisively influencing the sound of Hip-Hop and Electronic music, which it continues to do to this very day. From the decks to the dancefloor
On the back, besides the regular USB port for connecting to a DAW, there are two extra USB ports for plugging in external MIDI controllers – giving beatmakers of all kinds even more ways to control their setup. A DJ who wants to sample straight from the decks? They'll find phono inputs on the back of the unit (there’s a ground connection next door, too, in case the turntable isn't grounded and starts humming). Any synth players out there? They can use the two MIDI outputs for sending signals to their instruments. The MPC even has built-in speakers, which are tuned to emphasize frequencies between 3 and 5kHz, making them great for modern chart and club sounds.
