Real bronze from the Far East

Zultan's most affordable cymbal series is called Aja – pronounced "Asia" – and, as the name suggests, is made in China. But unlike the machine-made B8 bronze cymbals offered in the same price range by their competitors, the Ajas are cast from high-quality B20 bronze and finished by hand. In addition to the 8" splash, the Aja range includes other individual cymbals in various sizes and designs, as well as various preconfigured sets.

Zultan 08" Aja Splash

B20 – the standard yesterday, today, and tomorrow

In China, people have been familiar with the manual production of gongs and cymbals for centuries, so a lot of experience has gone into making the Aja series. 80 percent copper and 20 percent tin, B20 for short, is the bronze alloy that has long been known to be the magic formula for high-quality, melodious cymbals. As the Aja cymbals are finished by hand, each one is unique, which means that slight sound variations among individual cymbals of the same model are normal. The sound of the Zultan 8" Aja Splash is bright and forward, ideal for fast, crisp accents.

Zultan 08" Aja Splash, Detail

Good sound doesn't have to cost a fortune

High-quality cymbals are often unaffordable for beginners: Drummers on a budget will love the fact that Zultan Aja cymbals offer a lot of sound for not a lot of money. And it won't matter if they're playing Rock, Alternative, Grunge, Pop, or Funk – the Zultan 8" Aja Splash can be used in all of these genres and more thanks to its piercing projection and fast, splashy burst. This also means that this splash might be exactly the thing more advanced drummers are looking for to round off their setup.

About Zultan

To provide traditional craftsmanship at a fair price has been the guiding principle of Zultan ever since it was founded in 2000. The firm’s practice of selling directly to the end customer makes it possible to offer very customer-friendly prices. Nevertheless, the production process for Zultan’s trademark cymbals, which are made mainly in Turkey, is of the highest quality, a fact which has ensured they have also been a fixture in the Thomann range since 2011. The nearly 250 Zultan products cover several cymbal series, catering for all sectors of the music market. Zultan also offers accessories such as bags and drumsticks. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and manufacturing expertise, Zultan really does offer uncompromising quality at a reasonable price.

Save money – but in the right places

Anyone who's serious about drumming, be they a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, knows that the sound of their cymbals is just as important as all the great features – and the cool look! – of their newly acquired drums. No matter whether it's only this 8" splash, or a complete Zultan Aja cymbal set for even better value for money – the investment is definitely worth it, because the cymbals sound so good that even experienced drummers will get years of playing pleasure from them. And the Aja range is so diverse that other cymbals from the hi-hat, crash, ride, china, and splash categories can be purchased later, or as needed, to meet players' changing demands.

Cheap and very good
Jimmy McJimmy Jr 01.03.2024
These splashes are really good for the money. I got 2 to use as mini hats. They do that well, neither have inverted, they also work as splashes, strange I know seeing as they are splashes.

Each one has its own character, the best sounding one is my favourite, the second best one is my second favourite.

The sound is quirky, a short bark, a bit like a bottle being smashed, combined with change being spilt all over the floor.
It’s a bit like a mini gong being thrown down an escalator on a wet Tuesday in April. Somewhere near Hull.

I really like this splash. It’s crazy cheap and has bags of character.
I’ve been playing it for 2 years and it’s still going strong. It’s made its money back and then some.
Surprised at the quality.
As usual Thomann are flawless.

The purpose of this splash was to be used in a stack. At first I was looking to buy an 8 inch Zildjian trashformer, but it was a little above my budget. So I got this one and paired it together with my A-custom 8 inch splash. I tried stacking them in various ways, but the best sounding stack came out by putting the A-custom on the bottom, then putting 4-5 tiny pieces of moongel on the bell of the A-custom and 5-6 pieces in the middle of the A-custom, and putting the Zultan one on the top.

This Zultan splash on it's own sounds pretty decent too, really crispy.

Not so great to use by itself
healy866 16.08.2021
I would not use this cymbal by itself. Not a great sound out of it, but that's to be expected for the price. I use this cymbal with a 10" cymbal and I think it sounds great as a stack. I also put this cymbal on my snare drum as a weight/clap effect. Gives the drum a nice trashy, muted sound (if that makes sense). I keep this cymbal in my cymbal bag, if you get creative with it you can get some really interesting sounds.

Overall not a great cymbal, but it's affordability and size makes it quite useful if you're willing to get creative.

I just love this splash
joevagyok 29.09.2020
First time I bought this crash, I just love it. I prefer the sound of it over some way more premium splash on the market. It has really quick response and it's just great to use it for some unexpectedly placed licks in a groove. It's no too loud, blends in perfectly with the rest of the kit.
