Surprised!
Irish Paul 05.06.2020
Buying an instrument unseen and unplayed is always a risk but my wife's birthday was coming up and we were in lockdown because of COVID-19 and had no access to music shops. As Yamaha have a good reputation I thought this would be good enough to determine if it was worth getting a quality one a quality one later if she liked it and cheap enough to not hurt if it just didn't suit her.
I was simply not expecting it to look, feel or sound as good as it does.

The best !
Anonymous 30.07.2016
I 've got one of these as a gift couple of years ago and immediately fell in love with it. After a while wanted to upgrade to 300$ one because of electronics and just my own curiosity.
Got the expensive one and returned it, ordered back another YAMAHA and saved 250¤.
There's absolutely nothing bad about this great little instrument, and if you need to plug it in, get a external clip on pickup for 10¤.
i will probably get few more to live them at my folks, car, beach house etc...

Travel mini-guitar
klapjoekel 18.07.2019
It works great as a mini-guitar for traveling. Tuned it EADGBE by lowering each string and putting a higher gauge E string as a low-E. Obviously the Guitalele is nowhere near as loud as a dreadnought, but it is great for by the campfire or anywhere on the road and it stays in tune perfectly.

What! it actually sounds nice even with the factory strings!

I was stupid for postponing the decision to purchase this for so long. There is something magical about this style of instrument which I can't explain. It looks funny, like a grown man playing 3 year old kid's starter guitar but if just listening to the sound one can find a whole new world of colour and tunes which are just not the same played on larger guitar and regular tuning. The tone if perfect for the "cold frosty winter morning" style of music I make for documentary films a the moment!

The build quality is good and really nice price-quality ratio. The factory strings were actually really good sounding so did not bother to change them, just immediately started recording stuff.

This is THE perfect travel guitar. it is really small, probably fits larger backpacks. And if you have kids they can start learning guitar with it though you may fell in love with this instrument so much that you want to get another one for the kids just to be sure yours stays in perfect condition.

It is not a toy. A real guitar, just smaller. Impressed. Will get another one of these in different colour.
