Two transducers, one source

The Shure Nexadyne 5 is a supercardioid dynamic microphone specifically designed for capturing guitar amplifiers in live and studio environments. Featuring Shure's patented Revonic Dual-Engine transducer technology, which employs two precisely matched capsules working in tandem – one facing the source for clarity and isolation, the other wired out of phase to cancel mechanical noise and handling interference – it captures the full range of amplified guitar with little to no additional signal processing required. Its side-address form factor is designed to hang directly in front of a speaker cabinet, while its focused supercardioid polar pattern effectively rejects off-axis sources – a valuable property on loud stages where spill from neighbouring sources is a constant challenge.

Present and correct

The Shure Nexadyne 5 is specifically designed to capture the full sonic spectrum of amplified guitar – from clean lead tones to heavily distorted fuzz, and everything in between. Its frequency response of 50Hz–16kHz provides a natural, balanced foundation, while a presence peak centred at 6kHz adds definition and cut without harshness. The Revonic dual-transducer system minimises mechanical noise, unwanted resonance, and ambient spill through phase cancellation, ensuring a clean, focused signal at source. Housed in a rugged die-cast aluminium body with steel mesh grille, the Nexadyne 5 is both durable and discreet on stage, thanks to its non-reflective black finish.

The expert's mic

The Nexadyne 5 is aimed at live sound and studio engineers, as well as guitarists themselves – anyone who needs a reliable and consistent guitar amp mic that delivers a usable sound quickly with minimal desk EQ. Its excellent off-axis rejection is particularly valuable on busy stages where bleed from other instruments and monitoring is a constant challenge, and its detailed, natural sound signature translates equally well to professional recording environments. Guitarists and bassists who manage their own sound will find it a straightforward and dependable choice, whether positioning it in front of a combo amp at a club gig or setting it up for a studio session across a range of genres and styles.

About Shure

The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Models such as the 55 Unidyne – known to many as the "Elvis microphone" – and the SM57 and SM58 which appeared in the mid-1960s are still ubiquitous in live sound production today. They enjoy cult status among musicians and technicians alike. In the 1990s, Shure introduced the first wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems and became a market leader in this field. In addition to microphones, Shure offers a wide range of earphones and headphones for studio and live use, as well as various accessories.

From the stage to the studio

The Nexadyne 5's side-address design allows it to hang directly over the front of a guitar cabinet, with the XLR cable threaded through the amp's carrying handle for secure, stable positioning without a stand. For conventional stand or boom use, the A25E mic clip it ships with provides a reliable alternative. Experimenting with placement – moving the mic between the dust cap and the cone edge – yields a range of tonal options, from a fuller sound with more low-end body to a tighter, more present response. Its robust die-cast aluminium construction and the zipper pouch included make it equally well suited to the demands of touring. From festival stages and club rigs to professional recording studios, the Nexadyne 5 delivers consistent, reliable performance wherever it is deployed.
