Ultracompact mic for smartphones

The Shure MoveMic 88+ is a digital wireless microphone designed for video and audio content creators who need professional-quality sound without the constraints of cables. The microphone connects directly to any iOS or Android smartphone via Bluetooth and Shure's MOTIV Video or Audio app. Four selectable polar patterns and five customisable presets adapt the system to almost any recording scenario, from ensuring clarity for spoken content to recording ambient sounds in full stereo. The mic also features a headphone output for latency-free monitoring, and yet is so compact that it'll fit into any jacket pocket.

High-end smartphone sound

The Shure MoveMic 88+ is aimed at mobile filmmakers, video journalists, YouTubers, and field recordists who work exclusively or primarily with a smartphone, but who want their recordings to sound professional. The mic's ability to record directly to a smartphone over Bluetooth makes it ideal for run-and-gun shooting, creating two-channel stereo recordings at a quality of up to 48kHz. The other key specs also place the system firmly in professional territory: A 40Hz–18kHz frequency range, 122.4dB max SPL, and 96.5dB dynamic range handle everything from a whispered interview to a band soundcheck. With up to 8 hours of battery life and instant reconnection to the last paired device on power-up, the MoveMic 88+ is built for a full day in the field.

Ready to record

The Shure MoveMic 88+ has been designed with smartphone recording in mind: The ultracompact mic has virtually no controls on the device itself, with the deep range of features and settings all controlled using Shure's MOTIV apps. For more structured productions, the MoveMic Receiver – sold separately – can be connected to a camera or smartphone via cable, providing wider device compatibility, lower latency, and greater wireless stability while allowing the phone to remain separate from the mic. Either way, the system's selectable polar patterns make it an indispensable asset for journalists and documentary makers who switch between solo presentation, two-way interview, and ambient recording within a single shoot, while up to 30m of wireless range lets the subject move freely without the camera following.

About Shure

The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Models such as the 55 Unidyne – known to many as the "Elvis microphone" – and the SM57 and SM58 which appeared in the mid-1960s are still ubiquitous in live sound production today. They enjoy cult status among musicians and technicians alike. In the 1990s, Shure introduced the first wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems and became a market leader in this field. In addition to microphones, Shure offers a wide range of earphones and headphones for studio and live use, as well as various accessories.

Quick settings for quick setups

The five presets – Speech, Singing, Flat, Acoustic, and Loud – offer an immediate starting point for any recording scenario, and are accessible directly on the receiver or via the MOTIV app. For more involved work, the full DSP toolkit covers gain (0–40dB adjustment range), compression, five-band EQ, high-pass filter, and noise reduction, all configurable without leaving the field. The MOTIV Video app also supports direct smartphone recording and allows markers to be added to recordings for easy navigation in post. The mic ships with a USB-C cable, a windscreen, a standard 5/8" mic clip with thread adapter for mic stands, and a cold shoe mount for cameras. A full broadcast-grade wireless path – ready to record in under a minute.

Shure überzeugt – drinnen und draußen
Universalia 12.08.2025

Meine ersten Tests waren sehr positiv.
