From streaming to the studio
The Shure Desktop Stand with Boom is a compact desktop microphone stand with a single-section boom arm, manufactured by Gator for Shure under licence. Designed primarily for podcasting, broadcasting, and desktop recording, its low-profile design also makes it a practical floor stand for close-miking guitar cabinets, kick drums, and other low-level sound sources. The rectangular weighted base (102×368mm, 3.0kg) provides a stable counterbalance for the 458mm boom arm, while a vibration-absorbing rubber gasket prevents low-frequency rumble from reaching the microphone. The height can be adjusted between 292mm and 362mm via an ergonomic twist clutch, and integrated cable guide clips keep cables tidy. A supplied 3/8"–5/8" thread adapter ensures compatibility with both European and US microphone mounting standards.

The Shure Desktop Stand's rectangular base is deliberately proportioned to counterbalance the boom arm – wider than it is deep, and heavy enough to offset the leverage created by a microphone at the end of a 458mm arm. At the desk, this means the microphone can be positioned toward the performer without the stand tipping, while the low profile keeps it clear of monitors and equipment. Integrated cable clips route the XLR or USB cable neatly along the boom, keeping the workspace organised. With heavier broadcast microphones such as the SM7B, stability is best maintained by keeping the boom at a moderate rather than full extension.

About Shure
The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Models such as the 55 Unidyne – known to many as the "Elvis microphone" – and the SM57 and SM58 which appeared in the mid-1960s are still ubiquitous in live sound production today. The Shure Desktop Stand with Boom also lends itself naturally to close-miking applications away from the desktop. Guitar cabinets, kick drums, percussion, and other low-positioned sound sources all benefit from the boom's ability to position the microphone precisely while keeping the compact base clear of the sound source – ideal where a full-size floor stand would be unnecessarily bulky. The rubber gasket protects the supporting surface and dampens mechanical vibrations whether the stand is on a desk or a studio floor. Finished in Shure's distinctive black-and-green styling, it complements the broader Shure broadcast range and can be dismantled quickly for transport between mobile recording rigs and temporary setups.
