I use this as a Mic for my Guitar Amp (Fender Blues Jnr)
It provides a brilliant clean, clarity to the sound through the PA. It doesn't 'colour' the sound too much, and where it does, I like it.
I use it with the lead looped through the amp carrying handle and the mic up against the speaker grill. OK, this way only gives a limited amount of lateral movement, but I quickly found a nice sweet spot, marked it with some tape and away I'm going!

The Mic clip (which I'm not using obviously), isn't very substantial, and looks like it could easily break. Something to be aware and careful of if you're using it like that. The Mic itself weights about the same as a Bumble Bee, and this too might be a concern as it doesn't feel very substantial. I'm very careful when handling this Mic. That said, the design has stood the test of time, so what do I know?

Overall, just like the Shure SM58 or SM57, this has earned its reputation by simply doing its job, and doing it well. I like the fact that it simply hangs flat against the speaker, something that the Shure 57 could do at a push, but without the main area being available to pick up the best sound.

Give it a go.

Great Microphone
Tyler Duggan 30.11.2020
Great microphone for recording guitar cabinets.

Sound:
Meaty and great for getting those slick 70s riffs sounding nice and chunky. I put this up against my Marshall JCM800 4x12 and got one hell of a tone.

Pros:
Can hang it over the front or use the clip to connect it to a stand.

Cons:
You need to make sure you have the right means to use it, in an untreated room it could sound different from what you might expect.

Easy and sounds good
NicoAlfredo 19.02.2019
I've had this gem of a microphone for a year, I hang this from the top of my amp at small gigs. Love it because it's simple: Plug it in, position it, and let it do its thing.

The casing is made of plastic, so it's not as strong as other mics, but the advantage is that hanging it over the front of the nobody touches it or bumps into a mic stand. Mic stand is also extra weight to carry to gigs. I've taken good care of it so far and it has served me well.

For 100 EUR it's a no-brainer!

Amazing cab mic
pet5ket 17.10.2019
I use it all the time for miking my guitar amp.
When playing live, i have my amp facing me as a monitor, so i just hang the mic over and get rid of additional guitar mic stand.
That way it saves me space for the pedalboard, a monitor and vocal mic stand.
It also works great paired with a 57 if you have a bigger cab (like 4x12) for a heavier guitar tone.
Fantastic mic, i strongly recommend it!

Fantastic good value for money
Freek Bos 27.05.2018
I use it to mic my Blackstar Artisan 2x12 for live performances.
Once I found the sweet-spot the E609 really mics the sound the way it is sounding comming from the amp alone. Fantastic! Because I;ve spend a lot of time getting the sound of my amp right, I needed a affordable mic that could do the job. I like it that you can hang the mic from your head to the cabinet, so you don't need a mic-stand.
I've been using this mic for over 3 years now. Never failed on me once. It can handle a beating for sure!

Handy solution for micing up amps.
Stringslider 19.06.2022
I have one of the Sennheiser e906 mic but I recently added a second guitar amp to my stage setup so I bought this cheaper version. It is very similar and has the same form factor as the e906, I don't have to do any crazy eq-ing to make it give a good sound. it drapes over my amp and I just hold it in place with some gaffa tape to keep it on the sweet spot. No messing around with stands. The body of the mic is half plastic but I'm careful with my mics so it should last a long time.

LC
My new go to mic for close micing a guitar amp
LL Cool J 18.03.2024
This is the way to go, just hang it through the handle on your amp and you're ready to rock. No need for a mic stand. I thought I would miss the sound of the sm57 that I was so used to using, but I must say that I also really like the sound of this little thing. Great for live gigs and also on recordings.

Good mic for snare top position
Kris235 08.02.2022
Good mic for snare top position and micing guitar cabs. I like it better than sm57. For snare it has good hihat bleed isolation if positioned correctly.

Good dynamic
sratas 28.08.2019
Bought it as an alternative to the sm 57. Good move. It is mellower sounding and a bit less forward. I have to experiment a lot but it is another flavour of good. Usually I position tge 609 and the 57 close to a guitar speaker plus other mics for cariety or room capture and even stereo techniques. Should happen the perfect take I have pre coocked options when mixing.
