Millenium 13"x3,5" Black Beast Snare

Of course, one shouldn't have insane expectations from a snare drum that costs like two top-notch heads, but actually it is pretty good bang (no pun intended but it is applicable) for buck. The stock heads are OK but this drum actually sounds quite seriously good when armed with high quality heads - it should be able to serve both as a primary or a secondary snare and face the nominally much more expensive opposition in the piccolo snare class. The tightening mechanism is a bit crude but gets the job done, and the build quality is actually pretty fine.

When I was young, my friend's dad had a Ludwig Black Beuty snare drum. What I remember most about that snare is the way it made you blink with the power and tone.

While not quite as breathtaking as that 70s snare classic, this snare gets a long way there. much further than it ought to for its price, in fact.

I've had drummers surprised by how good such a cheap snare is; I certainly am.

If you need a solid snare but can't afford the big guns, or you just want an affordable back-up snare, this is the one.

For the price you get great value for this drum! And it truly is a beast. Action, volume, range, it’s all there, Even with the stock head it sounds really nice if you tweak it a bit. A damper? Maybe. Or you keep your technique in cheque and play center head if u want to keep the overtones out 😉 Lovely instrument for festivals / samba batteria gigs.

So this is my metal shell snare to compliment my Sonor TT Essential Birch wood Shell Snare previously bought.
The quality is so impressive and it's a weighty piece of kit with a truly lovely attention to detail. The tuning lugs turn smoothly with no "dry-grabbing" evident on some lesser Snare Drums which makes it very easy to tune to a high pitch delivering a wonderful sharp crack of sound.
It's the perfect second Snare Drum for my kit when I need that metal sharp sound for some music styles. Not only that, it's a beautiful looking Drum too.

This really is a little beast as its name implies. I can’t believe the quality of this snare which I only paid £70 for. I cranked it up with a new Remo head and it sounds as good as a £400 snare. Unbelievable. Why spend more than you need to. Here’s plenty of demonstrations on my YouTube channel:

excellent quality and great sound

I've recorded and toured with this snare and everyone goes nuts when they know the price. It has absurd projection for its size and the tone is great. It's not the best built snare in the world (come on!) but Thomann's customer service will solve any problem you have.

arrived in tune and sounds awesome, i've put an aquarian tc head on it now and it sounds even better! an absolute bargain!

Change the heads, maybe, depends on how geeky you are (haha), change the strains, and the snare just works excelent.
