Effect Pedal for Electric Guitar

When it comes to classic rock guitar pedals, the Tubescreamer has to be right up there among the best. In the late 1970s, the Ibanez Tube Screamer 808 made its debut – an overdrive pedal with a truly tube-like character, which caused quite a sensation at the time. Its successor, the TS 9, has since found its way onto countless pedalboards belonging to the greats – to name just two prominent examples: Stevie Ray Vaughan always overdriven his Fender amps with a TS, thereby setting a new benchmark for guitar sounds, and Gary Moore, too, got the very best out of his Marshalls for many years by firing them up with a TS. The TS isn’t distorted too much in the process, but the volume is turned up, which ‘teases’ the amp a bit more. Perfect for amps that don’t distort too much – just press the pedal for a harmonically balanced and full-bodied lead sound.

For anyone who wants to push their amps a bit further, there are three additional modes available alongside TS mode: +, Hot and Turbo. These modes offer more gain and bass without losing any of the classic Tube Screamer’s charm. Settings with higher gain sound great too, of course.

The ideal TS for people who like to have ‘more’.

Lots of tones

This is a great pedal. Built like a tank, and it takes the standard 9v input. The 3 TS modes basically give you more overdrive and more bass as you switch between them. I generally stick to the first two as I have this pedal driving an actual tube overdrive and the excess bass can muddy things up.

All in all this is a more versatile take on a classic pedal. It never left my board since I got it and that says something.

honestly nothing much to add, it's a tube-screamer it's value is demonstrated throughout the years and and it seems like a must have for those crusty breaks in your amp if you play the blues _

Review Ibanez TS9DX
Paulnylinx 04.06.2018
Excellent pedal especially for boosting the volume and sustain requirements such as switching from rhythm to lead guitar for example. The overdrive effect is well balanced across all 6 strings. The pedal itself is also quite chunky and robust. Well recommended.

Having options is always good.

Tubescreamer is a recognized standard. Can't go wrong. Having some extra options for a heavier sound is great.
