Very Satisfied with the TMB30

I got this for my daughter (7yo) who wants to start playing the bass.

Bear in mind I am not a bass player. I was very surprised by the quality of the instrument in comparison with its cost. I have managed to dial in a nice and mellow sound as well a punch one for slaps. So it seems very versatile, which is what I was looking for as this is going to be the only bass we will have for a while.

Affordable Shortscale

I have only two problems with this guitar: sharp edges on pickups and knobs positioning.

The edge of the pickups is quite sharp and if you put your hand on top of them it's not very pleasant, they definitely could have added some rounding. That said I added that with a file, not pretty if you look closely but much more comfortable.

The upper knob is located very close to the strings so if I play really hard I usually end up turning it with my pinky or something. So for some reason it resets to 70-80% position for me and I have to adjust it all the time.

Good Value Instrument
Robert7183 23.06.2020
For the price this is a good value instrument as is always the case for Ibanez. Pickups are good, neck is nice and thick. Scratch plate could be better. Tuners are reasonably good.

The only shortcoming for me is that it is much more difficult to keep all the strings from vibrating in sympathy with the string you are picking relative to a regular longer scale bass. i dont whether this is a shortcoming of short scale basses or just with this bass and its bridge.

Overall im happy with it for the price i paid.
