So good I bought it twice!
CoveredInSound, 30.04.2021
For a long time I wanted a guitar that I could leave in a different tuning (C#) and after seeing various reviews of this and looking at the price I thought it was the perfect opportunity.

The TE-20HH played great straight out of the box, I put on a heavier string gauge and tuned it down and the sound was great for what I was looking for. After a couple of weeks it developed a problem with the pickup selector and an electrical hum. I returned it to Thomann for repair, and as I was now writing a lot of stuff on it, ordered another one in case the repair took a long time, and also for when gigs start again, I will be playing this and want a back up.

Thomann actually sent me a replacement within a week! Happy to say, all my TE-20HH guitars played great straight out of the box, playability is great, the pickups are the dark sound I was after, neck is very nice and it holds the tuning well. The only "con" is that it weighs quite a lot, although between the 3 I've had, that has varied and my favourite weighs about 300 grams less than the others.

The first one I had was a toploader, but now they are through body, which makes changing the strings a bit easier.

I absolutely love this guitar and can honestly say it plays and feels like something much more expensive. If you want a no-frills instrument with its own sound and character, this is a no-brainer and I would buy it again even it was much higher priced!

A great guitar if you don't mind some work
MeatballSteakTips, 03.05.2021
To start, if you're thinking about purchasing this guitar, I do feel it is worth every penny. It just has issues, and all of them are correctible with some work and effort.
Mine came in with a less-than stellar fretboard. The first fret wood had nicks and so did the 22nd fret. Frets themselves seem okay. I decided to take some micro-mesh 3x4 polishing pads (available on Thomann as well, include them in your purchase), sand/polish from 1500 grit to 12000 grit, and finish by oiling with F-one oil. The fretboard is now a mirror shine and plays beautifully. Roseacer really takes well to this polishing, and honestly feels like an ebony fretboard now.
Pickups are not bad but not amazing, though they are better than I expected for overdriven/metal distortion. I plan to replace with probably some invaders with a coil tap pot.
Tuners are holding well so far, no issues. Pickguard looks good from afar but up close has clear coat scratches which sucks but it's not a dealbreaker.
Honestly there's not much bad to say. I expected work would be needed, yet I got a lot more guitar than I was expecting for the price,

Better than expected but not perfect
Tradgard, 20.04.2021
I owned a Harley Benton bass ten years ago. That particular model (Harley Benton HBB200BK) has since been discontinued, which is probably a good thing. That was a purchase I regretted from the beginning. It was a terrible instrument and I soon switched to Fender's Mike Dirnt bass thereafter. I'm mentioning thist just to illustrate how sceptical I was, while waiting for the guitar to be delivered. I purchased it on a whim together with another guitar, since it was so cheap and looked a bit special. I also thought it would be interesting to see, how HB quality has developed.

Well then: the quality seems indeed to have improved. Decent playability out-of-the-box. Action is a bit too high for my liking, but since I’ll probably be using this for alternate tunings, it doesn’t really matter that much. For someone purchasing his/her first guitar, this may, however, be off-putting and a possible issue. The action can probably be adjusted, but in comparison to my other guitars, this is definitely a minus, if you don’t want to tinker.

Otherwise the build quality is surprisingly good. Everything works, tuners seem OK. Frets smooth and nice. Humbucker switch a bit stiff. Of course, nothing can be said about durability at this stage. And it’s not an eyesore either, if that’s important to you.

At this price point I can recommend this instrument, but maybe not as only/first guitar.

The best low price telecaster i have , the guitar arrived in great condition all i had to do was 2 turns on the truss rod lower the action and it is fine .
I tried it through a Fender champion 20 amp louder than any other i have next its my Laney then my son will give it the full metal try out on his 60 watt tube amp . the neck is lovely and smooth im going to oil the fret board once the strings go out , the ones on are fine just needed stretching a bit . Im nearly 70 if you ask me if i had bought this 40 years ago paid £400 i would not have batted a eve lid plus you can mod easily if you want to with any pickup you like .
