I purchased this guitar on October 15, 2024, and chose UPS Express delivery. The guitar arrived very quickly, was well packed, and came in perfect condition with no visible damage or cosmetic issues.
As expected with an out-of-the-box instrument, it needed a bit of setup by a guitar technician. The string action was quite high, and some of the frets were slightly protruding. This was noticeable immediately while playing — the frets were quite sharp and uncomfortable on the fingers. After fret dressing and a basic setup, the guitar became much more comfortable to play.
Overall, the build quality is solid. The finish is clean and well done, the neck feels comfortable, and the guitar holds tuning very well. In terms of construction and reliability, it fully matches its price range.
Unfortunately, over time I realized that the sound was not exactly what I was personally looking for, so I eventually decided to sell the guitar. That said, this is more about personal taste and playing style. I have experience with other Harley Benton models — my main guitar is a Fusion 3 — and naturally, the Fusion 3 sounds better due to higher-quality materials, better overall construction, and different pickups.
The R-446 is equipped with two ceramic humbuckers, which makes it very well suited for heavy music. The tone is tight and aggressive, with strong low frequencies, and the absence of a tremolo system helps with tuning stability. For playing metal and other heavy genres, this guitar performs very well.
In my opinion, the Harley Benton R-446 is a great choice for beginner guitarists. It offers everything a beginner needs: stable tuning, solid build quality, and a straightforward, no-nonsense design.
