Harley Benton HQS Bass 45-100 Flatwound

I use these strings on a bass in a recording studio. The price was worth buying them without much risk. I have used these strings on about a dozen recorded songs and they sound consistently decent. I’m not feeling like I need to restring that bass. If they did, I would gladly do it with these strings again. The strings don’t sound excited, but they sound perfect for some of the psychedelic songs I played bass on. It also complained nice groovy bass lines where you have to slide on the strings a lot. I would say it’s not the best for slap bass. Also, when I’m watching a TV show with my family, I can play bass with these strings I’m pretty silent and not distracting when it’s not plugged in. With normal wound strings it would be a bit annoying during a show because wound strings are louder. But these just have a nice mellow, groovy tone and you can play pretty busy and get a good even volume with them.

I've tried out many flatwounds over the years: Chromes, TIs, LaBellas, Roto monels, groundwounds, Fender flats and more...

I really like this. I find them totally comparable in terms of finish quality and sound with the strings by major brands. I find the tone is better then Fenders and the sound balance between strings (volume, sustain, tone) better then LaBellas. I don't use LaBellas and Fenders even though already have them, I still use these. And all this for a quarter of the price!

I don't like that many users say they are good "for the price". There is nothing "budget" about these strings, they're be great at 3x their price.

If you're considering getting them: just get them and try out.

De klank is zeer goed: warm, diep en met een aangename vintage karakter. Wat mij het meest opviel, is hoe gemakkelijk deze snaren spelen. Ze voelen soepel aan onder de vingers, wat het speelcomfort ten goede komt.

Als bassist die altijd gewend was om op roundwound snaren te spelen, was dit een echte openbaring. Deze set heeft me zo overtuigd van flatwounds, dat ik nu overweeg om ook een van mijn andere gitaren met flatwounds te besnaren.

Kortom, dit is een echte aanrader voor iedereen die flatwounds wil uitproberen zonder meteen een fortuin uit te geven. Een fantastische set voor een onverslaanbare prijs!
