J
A good replacement for Epiphone guitars.
Jimbo777 08.07.2017
The Gotoh GE103B G is a very good bridge, very solid and well-built. I bought it to replace the bridge on my Epiphone Flying V Korina as I couldn't get a good intonation out of it.

Much better than the original bridge but is not a perfect fit for my guitar: the original bridge is more narrow and like the ABR-1, the GE103B G is more similar to a Nashville bridge. So the strings are now touching the edge of the bridge (but please note that Flying V guitars most of the times don't have a stop-tail).

Also: the distance between the two posts is not exactly the same as in the Epiphone bridge but slightly wider (at least on my Flying V), so I had to drill two new holes on the body of my guitar to have a good fit.

The guitar sounds now fuller, with some more mids. The intonation is perfect.

Overall a very good product but be 100% sure about the dimensions required on your guitar before purchasing.

Great quality

A high quality bridge used with the 'conversion' posts to upgrade a standard 'metric' bridge on an Epiphone LP. Good quality finish with nice gold plating.

A good upgrade

I bought a cheap Les Paul Copy and as usual, the gold plating was a mess on the bridge. The original bridge wasn't the best quality either if I'm honest. The guitar itself seemed good and solid though so I thought it was worth spending a little cash on it to try to improve not only the look but also the tone of the instrument. Having owned a number of guitars with Gotoh hardware I knew where to look for a suitable replacement. The diagram on the site shows the measurements very clearly so you can check it's going to fit before you order. Once I knew it would fit I ordered it and it arrived very quickly. Great service as usual from Thomann. The bridge itself is the quality you'd expect from a brand like Gotoh. It fit perfectly, the gold plating was of a high standard and everything functioned as it should. After replacing a few other parts I've ended up with a cracking guitar for not a lot of money. It might not be as sexy as a fancy new pedal but sometimes it's better to spend the money replacing the original hardware on a cheap guitar with something better rather than spending it on new toys.

Must have for Epiphones! Highly recommended!

I bought this to replace the original part on an Epiphone IBG ES355. The factory fitted bridge is the old Nashville style with the spring clip retainer on the saddle screws. My main reason was to eliminate rattles/buzzes caused by the spring, a mod lots of Gibson owners also do! Not only did the Gotoh part achieve this, the improvement in sound is excellent. I’m not sure if this is down to improved saddle quality and fit but there is a definite improvement in the way notes ring out and sustain! Intonation is also better and adjustment of the saddles is much smoother! Fitting was very easy, I used the original studs, the bridge just dropped straight on to them. Highly recommend fitting this over the cheap Epiphone original!
