Push opens a new chapter

The third-generation Ableton Push makes the leap from advanced controller to complete standalone instrument. Retaining the familiar 8x8 pad grid and workflow of its predecessors, Push 3 Standalone has an integrated processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD, allowing it to run Live directly on the device – in this bundle, the full Standard version of Ableton Live 12 is included out of the box. Sequencing, editing, recording, sound design, and performance are all handled without a computer, powered wherever inspiration strikes by the built-in rechargeable battery. At the heart of the instrument is a fully MPE-enabled pad grid that responds independently to pressure, slide, and pitch movement on every note, unlocking new dimensions of expression. Navigation has been refined with a jog wheel, raised ridge buttons, and reorganised layouts, while the integrated audio interface, ADAT connectivity, and CV support allow Push to function equally well as a self-contained workstation or the centrepiece of a larger studio setup.

Live inside the hardware

Ableton Push 3 Standalone runs Live natively, preserving the familiar Session based workflow while keeping the entire creative process inside the hardware. Ableton Live 12 Standard is a fully-featured production and performance DAW, with instruments, effects, samples, and projects all stored locally on the Push Standalone. Still, wireless connectivity enables easy project transfer and real-time multitrack audio streaming via Link Audio, as well as access to Ableton Cloud, firmware updates and additional instruments. The onboard processing power is robust enough for complex sessions, while Bounce in Place provides an efficient way to manage larger track counts. Recent additions such as Follow Actions, Macro Variations, and Rhythm Generator expand the creative possibilities even further, allowing users to remix material, generate new ideas, and build evolving performances without leaving Push.

Complete standalone solution

Ableton Push 3 Standalone serves a wide spectrum of musicians, from experienced Live users to artists looking for a computer-free creative environment. The Session Screen displays clip grids directly on the device, while the expressive MPE pads handle performing, sequencing, and sound design. New users can explore the Ableton ecosystem through an intuitive and focused workflow, while benefiting from the deep integration with projects created in Live, Note, or Move. In the studio, Push functions as a powerful audio interface and production environment, with support for external instruments, controllers, and even modular systems thanks to its four switchable CV/Gate outputs. Projects move seamlessly between Live and Push, where they can be reworked or performed anywhere inspiration strikes, with the added depth of MPE pads for bending chords, shaping melodies, or fine-tuning percussion hits.

About Ableton

Ableton was founded in 1999 in Berlin by Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke, of the dub techno duo Monolake, and software engineer Bernd Roggendorf. Today, the company employs around 350 people worldwide, with offices in Berlin and Los Angeles and team members across the globe. Ableton is best known for Live, its flagship music production and performance software, as well as its hardware instruments Push and Move. Live is one of the leading applications for music creation, combining studio production, sound design, and live performance in a single environment. Its flexible workflow, real time processing capabilities, and intuitive approach to improvisation have made it a favourite among musicians, producers, and performers around the world.

Blur the boundaries

In practice, Push 3 Standalone blurs the boundaries between instrument, production system, and performance workstation. The pads, encoders, display, and dedicated controls work together as a unified musical surface, making recording, sequencing, and sound design feel like one continuous process. External instruments can be recorded directly through the built in audio interface, while effects, processing and routing remain available without requiring additional hardware. Link Audio enables seamless wireless audio streaming between compatible Ableton devices, while support for external class-compliant USB audio interfaces expands the system when more inputs or outputs are needed: A wide range of MIDI controllers can be connected via the USB-A input and their built-in mappings for Live will be recognized by Push. Combined with ongoing firmware updates that regularly introduce new features and workflow improvements, Ableton Push 3 Standalone is equally adept at sketching ideas at home, shaping sounds in the studio or performing entire sets on stage.
