G1X4
Having had this for several months, I can say it helps out in a lot of different ways. I use it both standalone and in combination after a pedalboard, where I will just load an amp and a cabinet in the unit and then stack it with analog pedal effects.
The built-in tuner is great and prevents the commotion of having a separate tuner pedal. The looper is not the best feature because it is short, but it is enough for me to record the rhythm/chords and check if the scale I'm using for the solo works.
When using it standalone, it would be nice if the amp and cabs do not count in the 5 available effects per preset, but for me 3 effects are usually plenty and not a major drawback.
Finally, the effects are still regularly updated when I plug it into the PC (be careful, only the active/loaded ones get updated) and there is a small community where you can find ready-made patches for this model to experiment with.
All in all, a lot of fun if you have the time to noodle with it.

Zoom G1Xfour
Very good product for the price it costs. You have a great variety of effects and you can add or change through GuitarLab. Easy to handle, well built, solid. I'm very satisfied.

"Several pedals" for the same you would pay for one
I was looking for a pedal that could help me practice live with a loop pedal, and add several tones. I was looking for an octaver, a noise killer, overdrive, compressor and a tuner. It would cost me at least 250 to have something decent.
For the price this is pretty decent honestly.
Pros:
- Easy to use
- You can play with the numerous effects it has and switch between them, or use up to 5 pedals (as if it was your pedalboard)
- Sound is pretty decent. If you use amp, don't forget to turn off the micro, else it is bad
- Drums and rhytms are helpful and sync with the loop
Cons:
- The loop doesn't allow you to store your recordings
- In the 5 pedals options, the cabinet, amp and expression count to... So if you had them you will only have 2 more options. I think the expression should always work as volume at least.
Anyway it is worth the money.

A whole lotta a tones!
The zoom effects pedal is a great complemente for my guitar playng, allowing me to explore a huge type of tones which expands the creativity. The availability of a huge amount of presets online, from other users, and the easy programming of it through a PC makes it a very flexible companion. Finally having batteries allows me to play anywhere without the constraints of power, and this is a killer!

Avoid too much gain
Amazing pedal with all you could ever ask for, but I found that using it on a high/max gain setting can make the sound "stutter". Perfect build quality, though.

Excellent value
Very easy to use, well designed interface (no offence to the handful of people who struggled with the interface, everyone is different).
Really nice selection of FX.

For the price its an excellent piece of gear. It offers tons of usable effects with good presets. It would be great if it could have more than 10 user patches but again for the price 10 is good enough. The drum loops are also good quality and very useful for practice.

Great for the price!
Many effects, majority of them usable. Amp sims and distortions have a digital hiss but that's to be expected at the price point. A few of them can do the trick. In short - I've heard much worse for more money. Modulation, delay and reverb vary from very good to excellent. Only that is worth the purchase.
It's just right about OK to handle it and edit the effects, just forget doing it inconspicuously during live performace. Except if you only do the preset switching with your sound banks set beforhand for a specific PA / amp. Not too many places for pedals cabs and amps - only 5 (five) but it does the job if you have multiple patches per song.
Build quality is very nice for the price point. It's a very durable, thick and light plastic that looks like it's gonna last a long time. Footswitch height and shape are very confortable and pleasing to use, even more than BOSS-es.
Looper is short, but for practice it will have to do. 1 minute instead of 30 sec would be ideal.
Recommended buy for practicing, basic recording and casual reharseals, and basic effects (mod, rev, delay etc) for gigs.
Cheers!

I'd love to see Zoom make a dedicated multi track (say 2 with 1 minute each) looper like the boss RC 500, but more simpler, hardware like and in a lower price range (say 100 eur). I wouldn't mind the casing of the G1X Four for a design start. Maybe replace the volume control with two additional buttons or so.
