It's a valve stem

It's a pretty simple and solid build, made out of metal. If you use it on a Yamaha instrument it will fit. If you try to fit it to other instrument, it probably won't, but that's not a fault of the product.
I have this for quite a while and there is no sign of oxidation on it.
