Generally I like the quality which one can get from Yamaha. The sound box resonates the melodies that are played on treble strings really well. Even the strings that come with the guitar sound great right out the box. However, there are a couple of things I wanted to note. I would describe the sound as being very bass and treble orientated and not a lot of midtones, which is fine coming out of a guitar that costs this price. With that being said, I think for this price range the fretboard could've been better made. I have had instances on several Yamaha's which I bought both secondhand and brand-new where the frets seem to be quite flat and not well crowned which leaves the string to not have a good contact point when you're pressing on the strings. This guitar sounds fine for students wanting to practice, but obviously you get what you pay for. If I had the extra budget to spend on this guitar, I would have a Luthier recrown the frets for the bass strings. Other than that it's actually quite a nice sounding guitar.
