Great value for beginners or intermediates, with some drawbacks out of the box
I played music for 11 years before picking up a guitar for the first time, and this is the first guitar that I bought myself after playing for a few months on a borrowed old nylon-string.
Out of the box, the sound was... okay. In my opinion, the standard strings sounded very stiff and "steely" (although I have heard that this becomes better as you keep playing). Furthermore, the string height was very high and I thus had difficulty playing with the same accuracy as I did on my borrowed guitar.
After changing strings to some D'Addario EXP11 and drastically lowering the string height, however, the sound is now fantastic and the guitar is very playable. In my ears, the sound easily rivals that of guitars twice the price. It resonates beautifully and the build quality is solid.
Overall, a great value guitar that I will keep for many years. Be aware, however, that you may need to adjust it to your liking.

Great Instrument for the Price
This guitar has a lovely and bright sound, a comfortable neck and decent electronics. My main gripe with it was the scratchy frets and high action right outside the box, but both were relatively easy to fix. To keep things short and sweet, I wholeheartedly recommend this guitar.

First Impressions of the Yamaha APX 600
I recently purchased the Yamaha APX 600, and I am truly impressed with its overall quality. The materials and craftsmanship feel solid and well-made, clearly reflecting Yamaha’s reliability. I really like the tone of the guitar, and when plugged into an acoustic amplifier, the sound becomes even richer, clearer, and more balanced.
With a minor setup adjustment, I believe the playability of the fretboard can be improved even further, which makes the instrument even more enjoyable to play. Thanks to its comfortable body shape, stable sound performance, and amplified tone, I am confident that the Yamaha APX 600 is a guitar I can comfortably and reliably use on stage.
