The complete package for beginners

The Thomann THTX 3.0 Xylophone is a compact practice instrument and has a three-octave range with C5 at the bottom and C8 at the top. The bars of this xylophone are made of padauk, an African wood that is characterised by its natural reddish-brown colouring and also used in applications such as guitar-building. Padauk has a medium density and provides tonal characteristics that are similar to those of rosewood, but sounds slightly brighter overall. The frame of the Thomann THTX 3.0 is made of solid wood, and the included x-shaped stand is made of aluminium. A carrying case with backpack straps and a pair of rubber mallets are also included in the scope of delivery, so players can get started right away after unpacking.

Compact dimensions and solid features

The Thomann THTX 3.0 Xylophone is extremely easy to assemble and disassemble, with the stand allowing six different height settings. Thanks to the rubber feet, rubberised support surfaces for the instrument, and adjustable supporting arms, the xylophone will always stand securely and not wobble, even when played vigorously. The pitch range of three octaves is also sufficient for practising more complex pieces. The Thomann THTX 3.0 Xylophone is designed exclusively for playing with softer rubber or felt mallets, which keeps the volume at a very neighbour-friendly level when practising at home. Nevertheless, the included rubber mallets create a pleasantly percussive attack, which at least comes close to playing with wooden mallets.

Great entry-level instrument

Compared to other entry-level models, the Thomann THTX 3.0 Xylophone is unrivalled in terms of price and is therefore largely unique on the market. It is aimed exclusively at young up-and-coming musicians whose parents are reluctant to shell out a fortune for an instrument until they can be sure that their child is actually going to stick with it in the long term. This is precisely why the Thomann THTX 3.0 xylophone is a great and impressively high-quality point of entry into the world of orchestral percussion. An extremely practical feature is that the included carrying case also offers enough space for the stand - so everything can be neatly packed up and stowed away in just a few simple steps.

About Thomann percussion instruments

In addition to products from more renowned companies, Thomann now also dedicates a large proportion of its range to instruments that bear the store’s own brand name and are manufactured by well-known and long-established companies. These include percussion instruments – from shakers and cajons through to handpans and drums authentically made in Africa – that offer an unbeatable price-performance ratio and are the perfect choice for students, beginners, and many others. These are characterised by features and materials normally found at much higher price points as well as by a thoroughly convincing sound.

Ideal for the playroom

Thanks to its comparatively compact dimensions, the Thomann THTX 3.0 xylophone will find its place in almost every child's room - even if they already have a drum kit, an electric piano, or other instruments next to the bed and desk. And for longer journeys - to perform at a family get-together or to rehearse with friends, for example - the instrument can quickly be packed in its case and then set up again wherever it is needed. And should the player's own abilities grow beyond this instrument at some point, the Thomann brand offers more professional but still extremely affordable xylophones, from tabletop models all the way through to orchestra models.

Good Thomann product.

Useful for home exercises. The plates are a little narrower(350mm). Very good workmanship with strong, pleasing materials. The instrument is heavy, solid and the stand light.

I will admit I don't have any experience of other more orchestral xylophones, so I can't give a professional viewpoint, but this is a very solid and cheap (yet great quality) instrument that is easy to set up and play!

For the price, the instrument is of very good quality. But what stands out is Thomann's customer service. After a year of playing I encountered a crack in one of the bars and Thomann sent me a new one free of charge.
