Imagine paying 5 bucks for a decent whistle
I've been blowing air into instruments for 12 years, and now I breathed into this one; read my experience below.
• SOUND: Sufficiently loud, very mellow. There's That One Expensive American Maker manufacturing wonderful whistles for about 30 bucks, and the first octave of the Thomann whistle can almost keep up in quality. The second one will give you more air and intensity. I usually stick to the first octave.
• FEATURES: With this, I rated the capability of the instrument to provide nice sounding ornamentation like cuts and strikes. While responsive to ornamentation, cuts and strikes are rather bland harmonics-wise compared to other whistles.
• RESPONSE: About what I'm used to with whistles — breath control feels natural, not too sensitive and not too stubborn.
• QUALITY: The make is impressively simplistic and smooth. However, there's something about the seam on the sound chamber that makes it scream "plastic!" Granted, that wouldn't be far off the mark, but is that the story you want the instrument to tell without anyone asking? Its look is affected solely by the seam though. The rest looks clean. I've paid more for cheaper-looking instruments.

Beautiful instrument
I'm Irish & just wanted a little something that reminded me of home, of growing up & learning to play the tin whistle in school.
Of course it's not the best tin whistle in the world, but more than functional, and if you're looking for "that sound" then look no further.

Solid look and good sound
I always wanted some flutes around my home studio, if i have a mood for recording some folk music.
I feared this instrument becouse the other feedbacks, maybe i'm lucky one, but mine - for restarter, who played at elementary school - its working good. Its easy to play, dont need much air, two octave sounds nice, tuned well.
And its cool black!

Best Bang for Buck
Best bang for buck!
Clear tone and spot on tuning.
The second octave is a little more difficult (as compared to an expensive whistle).
Overall - a great whistle - recommended.

Great for the price
I have a few Irish whistles at this stage and I wanted to try out this plastic one to see how it sounds. It feels a little more like playing a recorder, because of the mouth piece, larger body and slightly bigger holes. I'm used to the Feadog tin whistles. It sounds more mellow and I like the sound. The high C is a bit squeaky though.
Overall, it's great to play around with and explore different timbres.

Good Whistle
The Thomann Irish Whistle D is a good whistle. i give it 4 stars
+ Its easy to play, needs a normal amount of air and is easy to overblow
+ both octaves sound good
+ its seems quite durable
+ looks nice ;-)
+ and has a fair price
+ its neither very loud nor very quite
because it seems quite durable i like to take this one as a outdoor whistle
what else can i say?
i recomend getting one, for this price you are gettiung a good whistle for your collection (you should have more than one whistle anyway;-))
i wish Thomann would have whistles in every key, i would buy them all

Impressed
Having bought (and lost) three black plastic whistles (made by a well known whistle manufacture and retailing at 10 times the price of these whistles) I was very impressed at both the price and the quality of the thomann whistles. At least if I lose the thomann whistle I'm not out of pocket... I rated them 4 as I'm not a "full time" tin whistle player and therefore would not be qualified to give them the maximum rating. But they seem to be spot on.

Great instrument for beginners or kids
My seven year loves this! Great instrument for the price!
Feels good and sounds great. They will be using this as an introduction to music and music theory.
Would recommend and buy again.
