This is certainly usable, but I would suggest going up a notch or two, price-wise, if you're at all serious about playing. Children need good instruments, and from the very beginning, a guitar with a solid wood top is really needed. This one is serviceable, but nothing more.

My kid play it and it's very robust(lots of hits and no deterioration). The sound is not very strong with a ukulele like flavor. Th G string always gets out of tune and it sounds bad. Have no idea why.
