Let me start this review by saying that I've tried quite a few mouthpieces from other brands : Syos, Jody Jazz, Dave Guardala, Yamaha, Brancher, Drake. None of the other mouthpieces that I've tried have been as easy to play and as responsive as this mouthpiece. I've found that for some people this mouthpiece may be too free-blowing but that's down to personal preference.

The quality of the mouthpiece is really high. The exterior is finished incredibly well. There are no scratches, nicks or other imperfections on my particular mouthpiece. The only thing that i dislike on the hard rubber models is the ligature. I find that the ligature tightening mechanism sticks out a bit too much for my liking and after some time one side of the ligature started being weaker than the other. This may have been caused by me putting some force into it when taking off the mouthpiece but that's the reason why i don't like how much the bottom sticks out.

The mouthpiece has a medium-bright sound and has a great core. But if you need to you can push it to get that extra edge in the sound. This makes it great for playing in big band or pop settings. Overall, a very versatile mouthpiece. If only it wasn't so expensive.

Dies ist mein zweites "Jazz" Mundstück. Davor habe ich das BetterSax Tenor Mundstück von JodyJazz gespielt, das wirklich schon gut und vielseitig war, aber ich war bereit für ein größeres Tip Opening und wollte einen noch wärmeren Sound.
Und genau diesen warme, Paul Desmond-artigen Sound liefert das Gaia. Nicht umsonst ist es ein unter Profis weit verbreitetes und geschätztes Teil. Es kann sehr warm und weich klingen, aber auf Wunsch auch richtig schön dreckig ohne dabei kratzig zu werden.
Man muss hier noch mehr Sorgfalt bei der Platzierung des Blattes anwenden - ein halber Millimeter hin oder her macht hier schon einen deutlich spürbaren Unterschied, aber hat man alles erstmal richtig eingestellt, macht das Mundstück große Freude. Hohe und tiefe Register sind vollkommen problemlos zu spielen, die Ansprache ist großartig.
Bleibt nur der exorbitant hohe Preis - ich denke, man findet sicher ähnlich gute Mundstücke für die Hälfte, wenn man nur lange genug sucht, ich habe mir hier etwas gegönnt, weil ich keine weiteren Experimente machen wollte und mir sicher war, dass dieses Mundstück das richtige für mich ist . Ich habe es nicht bereut und denke nicht, dass ich noch einmal ein anderes brauche.
