Installation in small church
Johnf52 21.03.2014
Installed along with a pair of Evid 4.2's and A&H ZED14 desk.
Nice unit. Has very rugged feel for its cost. Effective array of input and output options, though I used the conventional xlr in and speakon out format.

For this price, nice to see it comes with built in limiters etc, though in this particular application should not be necessary. Nice clean sound at low and high levels with no perceptible coloration. Also nice are the protection relays, seldom found in units at this price.

Among the features on this unit is the "standby switch off when no, or v.low level input. For this install, had to switch this feature off, which is easy to do with slide switch above mains in. Perhaps would be nice if the features switches did not use letters or initials but plain English or somewhere (plenty of room on the back panel) there was an interpretation of the code to save looking it up in the hand book!

On the whole Thomann great amp, but PLEASE supply UK with UK mains plugs as "technically" it is now against UK regulations to chop off a German fitting and replace with a 13A plug unless you are a qualified "sparky"

Very awesome product!
Dan.D 06.10.2017
This is my first Thomann product, and I have to say it's a really great product. I use it for small parties in a medium sided room with a lounge area outside, and it fills up both areas effortlessly. Never disappointed.

The physical build quality is very good - it's very sturdy and it's made of good material. The sound quality is also impressive, especially when considering it's low price tag. It produces quite crisp sound while delivering plenty of bass.

The only issue I had is that it does not fully support mono mode. I would have used this to power one speaker (to hear both left and right channels from one speaker), however when connecting the speaker in bridged mode it only outputs sound from the source's left input channel. However that's a lack from my side as this is something that I should have researched about before, so it's not something that I can complain about. If you don't need this feature than I recommend it.

Very happy with the sound quality it delivers!

Phew!

Mine runs 2 big sub bass cabinettes, rated @ 350watts - 4 ohms each. This amp is easy and clear at full power, 5 hours of this is no problem. I run this twice a week, she just keeps going, cool & calm.
Thomas music gear always seems to be really good & reliable. So they've done it again.

Makes things louder

Cheap and cheerful amp that seems well built and liable to stand up to a reasonable amount of punishment. Doesn't sound the best, but it's perfectly acceptable for many situations.

Only real criticism I can find is the fan is quite noisy. This one was used somewhere it needed to be quiet, so that caused a bit of a headache.

Fergal B. 06.01.2014
Replaced an old carlsbro amp with the t.amp 400 and im well pleased.Sound quality is very good, much better than i expected at this price level.Powering two jbl 1500s speakers and the t-400 is way loud and capable enough. Also very quiet operation compared to my previous amp which had a noisy coolin fan, good for bedrooms or small studios.Overall a good quality and value for money stereo power amp would highly recommend. Thanks again to the Thomann team.

VERY GOOD
tangerine_simone 22.01.2020
Excellent power amp, very good build and good features.
The fan is audible in a home listening room, ths is the only downside in an otherwise excellent machine. Some people just deactivate the fan, but this would break the warranty.

A bit noisy, but does it's job
Lietu 29.11.2017
The one major complaint I have about the amp is that it has noisy fans. It's the one reason why I think I have to set up another audio equipment stack somewhere a bit further from my ears.

However, it has worked pretty much non-stop and without any issues for a long time now. It is only powering my subwoofer, so can't really say much about audio quality.

Amazing value
Andy4622 07.03.2015
I bought three of these amplifiers for use in supplying the background music in a hair salon. I had rejected some amplifiers from other manufacturers as they had noisy cooling fans. These t.amp amplifiers are well made, they sound good and the cooling system is almost silent, despite being fan-based. The only down side is that they are more bulky than some products - being two rack units high, but in most situations this won't matter. I would certainly recommend them.

Decent poweramp for not much money
Anonymous 13.10.2016
First off, I use this for my guitar set up (don't ask), so I can't comment on it's use as a PA amp.

Really well built, incredibly neat internals, solid dials with detents so you can easily match volumes on each channel. Separate XLR and jack inputs, which is nice - Speakon outputs are a pain for guitar setups, but if you're setting up a PA that makes sense.

I think it has inbuilt overcurrent/heat protection, but I can't say for sure because it's never kicked in. It works, it's as loud as I need.

Only down point is that the fan is always on, full speed. The fan that came with it was pretty noisy (you wouldn't hear it at normal PA volumes, but for quiet guitar playing I could). I switch it out for a bigger, slower fan with a speed controller and it's now effectively silent.

QUALITY/PRICE t-amp E-400
JOHN CAMPION 29.10.2018
We use these amps with our Jukebox and projector screen systems. They give excellent quality for a relatively low price. They do the job of much pricier amps and have pretty good longevity.
