Good pedal, wish it had an extra button
Anonymous 07.01.2016
I bought this pedal to use during live shows in which I perform with foot drums.

First, the good:
- the sound of this thing is clear and dare I say it, perfect. There is no difference in quality whether I use it or have it disconnected completely
- the build quality is excellent. Solid, beautiful, that button is clicky and cool.
- small! This thing is tiny which of course adds to the awesomeness.
- very fun. Jamming is natural and very easy to get into.

Well, now the bad.
- One button. I know it looks clean and saves space but it is soooo difficult to operate during a show for this reason: tap to record and tap to playback is great and natural but if you want to stop it you need to double tap and that does not come natural at all. Also, if you don't manage to delete the loop on first try, you might end up starting a loop again before it deletes which is dreadful in a live show.

To sum up, great pedal but ultimately made for a guitarist with their feet free and more suited for home/studio practice than live shows

This looper is not the option for a live looping musician. It's mostly a tool for practising. It doesn't have many features, but all I wanted was a looper pedal with just the basic functions mostly for practising and finding my tone, and only some playing along looping tracks. It can be used as a backing track looper, though, but only for medium creativity. If you are after a pedal for live situations with various types of layers and not just one layer over another, then you might want to check pedals with more functions. In terms of its simplicity, it is indeed simple, however I put 4 stars in handling, because I always find it a little difficult to work with loopers myself. Guess I should practise even more.

Good looper in a small package
Gunnar921 04.02.2014
It has now been over 6 months since i first started using my TC electronics ditto looper, and it is still a very enjoyable tool to have. I find it easy to operate, although it needs some time getting used to the one single button which controls all the features with different types of double-taps etc. If you plan on using it in a live situation, and not just as a toy for your practicing, be sure to memorize the controls of the button well. I have failed to turn the loop off in front of an audience because of I forgot to double-tap and hold to turn it off.
Simply put, it is a great looper, which, once you get to know it, has loads of features in a tiny package, is great fun and an inspiring tool/toy for your everyday practice or gigging.

It's better than I am

The sound is great as is the ease of operation, I'm just too much of a klutz to use it properly on stage. Great fun for practicing ideas in the house. I've also used it for generating random loops live when it's been getting all Fripper-tronics on the audience.

B
Small & simple
Buket 13.03.2021
Pros:
1. It is a good looper choice for practicing like I do. Because it is very very simple one. I record one base riff and play solo on it. Sometimes I record many things on top of each other for fun. That's all.

2. Supporting to this simplicity, It has only a Level knob and one switch for multiple operation like record, add/remove track, stop playing

3. And another thing I like is: When you record a riff and then shutdown the electricity, the recording will be available on the next power on! I do not need to record the same riff again and again on each start of practicing.

4. Small size is an advantage if you have many pedals on your pedalboard

Cons:
there is no cons for those whom is looking for simple looper.

Good for practicing alone and refining ideas
otagram 23.10.2019
Very simple looper pedal, really easy to use and no setup whatsoever. Very very compact and sturdy and the button is nice and responsive. I've had great fun practicing with it, however it does have a slight hum/buzz sound when looping. Would recommend for the price.

Well happy.
John571 16.02.2014
I bought this to record bass lines so that I could concentrate on my vocals. The first TC electronic ditto to arrive only lasted about 30 minutes before dying. Unsure as to whether it was the unit or the power supply after some testing I found it was the looper so I returned it to Thomann. Better success second time.

In use the looper is easy to operate and the functions are logical and straightforward. The set up is such that it is easy to ensure that the playback volume is the same as the (live) record volume. The quality of output playback is first class and indistinguishable from the live input.

If this is the first time you have used a looper be aware that for good results split second timing is absolutely essential. Even if you consider yourself a good timekeeper this will I'm sure test your natural rhythm, but if fairness it doesn't take long to get right.

All in all well pleased, an uncomplicated and easy to use looper at an attractive price.

Excellent but not perfect.
Algirdas 19.11.2013
I was very excited when TC Electronic released the Ditto. I had been waiting for a simple looper for years. It appears to be well built and is extremely simple to use. I only wish they had made it big enough to accommodate a second switch for stopping the playback though. That would be much more comfortable than double-clicking, especially in applications where sudden stops are required. And I would gladly sacrifice the true bypass for a quieter switch. Other than that, it's a great inexpensive looper that is easy to use and has an excellent sound quality that is good enough for studio applications.

Simple to use, infinite possibilities
Pablo9119 15.09.2014
It is incredible what such a simple and well design device can add to your guitar journey...

Recording your own loops isin my opinion way superior to readily available backing tracks. It forces me to constantly work on my timing and rhythmic skills. “Writing” your own chord progressions is also a good way to put in practice some simple concepts of music theory.

I record my scales practice with it from time to times in order to judge my regularity and clean some of the unwanted sloppiness that I am guilty of.

Of course, It will never fully replace the joy of a jam session with a mate, but like a great philosopher once said “You can’t always get what you want!”

Too bad the recorded loops cannot be easily exported.
