The look, touch, scent, durability and the wide and pleasant support that ain't sliding nowhere like nylon or whatnot. Picture vs 1,000 words hoopla: In the 3.3k strong Facebook group "The Taylor GS Mini Appreciation Group" you can search "strap is the Honey Gold color" [June 25, 2020] to see this Honey version worn on a lighter shaded Hog and another Honey lying atop of a darker Hog, and the Chocolate strap atop the Spruce top. Anyway.
To me it's about perspective. A pair of meh (nice if on a big discount) quality leather shoes lasting a couple years at most is used daily or this gem that will outlive you if you treat it like you're hopefully already treating your guitar.

Very nice and comfy, not slippery. The bonus is that if one uses only the 2 lower slits, it´s 147 cm long from hole to hole, which is perfect for a lowish slung Gibson.
