Deceptive marketing by Tascam
I bought this device primarily to use as an audio interface with a DAW. Be careful, it’s really not good for this use. It’s promoted s having 6+2 inputs. The reality is that, as an audio interface, it only has 4. It could very well have 6, because it has a stereo input which could serve as inputs 5 and 6, but is limited by the device’s software (because you have to select “USB”, and this occupies 2 input slots).
The software is full of unintuitive and absurd things like this that limit the devices usefulness. I tried to contact Tascam service to see if there would be a solution to the issue, it a software update that would fix it. Their only answer is “we will answer in 4 weeks”, and then they never answered.
On top of that, the screen, which looks nice on the photos, is actually slow and unresponsive.
It’s still reasonably good as an audio recorder, but there are other options that don’t use deceptive marketing, that have a better user interface, and that certainly have better customer service if you need it.
