Good

After 2 months using and comparison that mic, I found it very similar with SM 58(!) in many ways. So I think is very good for the price...

HG
Great microphone for home use
Humble Gabor 07.12.2024
It's a great microphone to use at home for rehearsals or recordings. I teavelled around with it a bit and the head got loose, but fixed it easily. I'm not sure it's suitable for much touring around. The sound is better than I expected for its price, so I very much recommend it.

A decent contender against much more expensive mics
Paparey 06.12.2019
I haven't used this in live situations, only studio use and predemoninantly for vocals.
Build quality is better than you might expect at this proce point, though not bomb-proof, and it did come with pouch and clip etc.
The MB 85 seems to cope relatively well with a variety of inputs but does really need to be cranked in order to get good levels.
Overall, as with many of the t.bone products, it is a good workable mic that gets the job done perfectly well without breaking the bank.

Simple mic for domestic use

This is a very accomplished microphone for home use, and karaoke sessions. Not very dynamic, but good for basic stuff.

A truly remarkable microphone in almost every way.
At this price, I'm stunned.
I'm comparing it with the top selling Mics, the MB85 is right up there, gain, sound, build, magnificen t'bone 👌

Cheap, but good

Great for the price, includes a good bag and a not so good holder. The green strip is a rubber band that fell off quick. Sounds alright, works well as a talkback or spare mic.

Handles mistreatment like a boss!
Anonymous 06.03.2017
bought this mic for live gigs. comes in a nice box with pouch, and it has a decent sound for the price. You can hear the difference with the more priced "cousins" but its a very minor issue for the average live setting. good thing is can handle any kind of mistreatment pretty well: have bashed it on the floor multiple times, has experienced any kind of temperature, sweat and beer over it, but it still manages to work somehow. Great if you need to buy multiple mics at the same time for a band and don't want to go over a certain budget.
definitely recommend this for amateur and semi professional settings where sound quality can be compromised a little in order to save some money!

DK
Good sound but not very durable/repairable
Daniil K. 31.12.2015
I've give it a try as a mic at public rehershal studio, where vocalists from local bands without their own mics can use what we have there. I also sing myself, and I liked this mic: good looks, clear sound, not too much of a feedback, lays good in hand. One of our customers owns a Shure SM-58 and he confirmed this one sounds very very similar.

Now here is the downside. After being thrown on the floor I guess, the mic capsule inside got loose and now gives distinct noise when you shake the mic. And this is the first mic I've ever encountered where you seem to be unable to unscrew the grill off the body to see what's up with that capsule and maybe secure it back. It seems to be glued-on. I will try to have some luck with the heat gun. Until then ? it still sounds good but the handling noise got pretty distracting.

Overall ? good-sounding mic if you handle it gently, not suitable for harsh use. Great value for money.

Budget Vocal Mike
Andy739 24.06.2013
I own two of these along with a well known industry standard vocal mike similar to this item (Need i spell it out!) and to be honest it compares pretty well considering the budget price in comparison. Yes i can tell the difference but the MB 85 is no light weight and certainly holds its own and has the weight and feel of a quality mike along with a stylish blue windshield band making it look good too . Ive used the MB85 both for small gigs and at larger outdoor shows and it punches above its weight pricewise. It comes with a case and mike stand clip and if its a budget vocal mike you are looking for you could do far worse for the price that get you hands on one of these.
