Sovtek instead of JJ

I had to buy sovtek along with per-amp jj tubes because i couldn't find jj el84 at thomann. anyway, the shipment was fast as always and the packing is good although the shipping box was too big for few tubes (6).
I put replaced the power tubes with sovtek and the per-amp with JJ. and the sound was not as impressive. i did change one of the JJ (V2) position back to the Chinese stock that came with the ac15c1 vox and the sound was better.
after that i decided to put the Chinese el84 back in the amp. just for the sake of comparison. and the result was that the sovyek had slightly lower output power than the stock Chinese, but the sound is well shaped and with nice harmonic. whereas the Chinese had the sound and distortion going anywhere without any precision.

Better matched than amp manufacturer

These EL84s were better bias matched than the original pair from Boogie for my mini rectifier head. Could be my ears but they did seem to lack something in the sound that I had previously, but since they were matched there was also no crazy humming either! :)

Worth a shot, and good as a set of spares in the bag.

I replaced the factory stock tubes in my Fender Blues Junior with the and they did work out just fine. Compared to the old tubes the amp got a little more clarity and punch.
