basically a handheld lofi digitakt

the xt is an amazing piece of kit for the money. it has a surprising amount of features, very similar to digitakt in many ways - parameter locks, sample locks, 2 lfo's per track, multimode filter, envelope filter etc etc. but it can be battery powered too which is epic.
ui is very intuitive just like the Digi.
the little speaker is terrible but it's handy to have.
the fx aren't great quality but they're usable. I'd love em to update with some higher quality fx.

sound quality is ok

the mixtape function is genius. everything should have this.

doesn't have a performance mode but could really do with one.

build quality is solid. buttons are a bit mushy, but still built well.

it's a bit heavy with batteries in but still usable handheld lieka and gameboy. I tend to rest it on my knees when holding it handheld.

all in all it's an amazing little machine for the price.

Tut das was es verspricht, intuitiver Workflow

Das Gerät hat Lofi bereits im Namen, und tatsächlich ist der Sound sehr stark daran ausgerichtet. Wenn einem das zusaget, so wie mir, dann klingt die Groovebox tatsächlich so wie in den diverse Audioaufnahmen im Internet.

Intuitiver Workflow, auch sehr schön darauf ausgelegt nicht nur loops, sondern auch Songs zu machen. Genug Display um Informationen zu übermitteln, aber der Workflow ist sehr auf die Funktionsbuttons ausgelegt, sodass man für Aktionen nicht endlos tief in Menüs graben muss.

Wer ausgiebig längere Samples intensiver bearbeiten will wird aber eher in den Menüs herumwursteln müssen, ich denke da gibt es effizientere Geräte/Software. Meine Erfahrung mit den Preset Samples, zumeist Oneshots oder Drumkits, ist aber: Dinge lassen sich zügig reinladen, passabel automatisch slicen, und sind schnell zur Verwendung bereit.

Für mich ist das Lofi-12 XT genau das Upgrade von der Novation Circuit Reihe, das ich gesucht habe, und ich bin sehr sehr zufrieden damit.

Viel Spaß für den Start

Ich habe mir das Gerät hauptsächlich gekauft, um auch mobil mehr in die Groovebox- und DAWless-Welt einzutauchen. Was ich bisher in dieser Welt gelernt habe, ist, dass JEDES neue Gerät seine eigenen Vor- und Nachteile hat und es im Prinzip nicht das perfekte Gerät gibt.

Was ich auch gelernt habe, ist, dass man allerdings durch die Eingeschränktheit des jeweiligen Geräts sehr kreativ sein kann und man, wenn man mit dem Workflow zufrieden ist und ihn beherrscht, viel mehr Spaß haben und effektiver Musik machen kann. KANN – denn natürlich muss man sich das Gerät im Grunde wie ein neues Instrument erlernen.

Klar sind die meisten Tasten und Funktionen bereits bekannt oder wurden schon verwendet, jedoch ist jeder Synthesizer und jede Groovebox eigen. Ich als Anfänger kam gut mit dem Lofi-12 XT zurecht und musste auch erst einmal ein bisschen lernen. Es gibt sicherlich noch größere Grooveboxen mit mehr oder besseren Funktionen, aber ich bereue den Kauf nicht und benutze den Lofi-12 XT regelmäßig und will ihn nicht mehr hergeben … aber alleine kann er auch nicht bleiben 😉
