The Shure KSM32C is a professional fixed-cardioid condenser microphone designed for accurate, natural recording across studio, broadcast, and live applications. Built around a distinctive 3/4" electret capsule, it combines the extended low-frequency response normally associated with larger diaphragm microphones with the controlled off-axis behaviour more typical of smaller designs. The frequency response extends from 20Hz to 20kHz, with a gentle 3dB presence lift between 8kHz and 12kHz that adds openness and definition without becoming harsh. The low 11dB SPL-A self-noise preserves subtle detail, while a switchable -15dB pad raises the maximum SPL from 140dB to 155dB for particularly loud sources. A recessed three-position low-cut filter provides practical control over proximity effect and unwanted low-frequency rumble. The HM package includes a swivel mic clip, foam windscreen, zip-up carrying case, and thread adapter.

Smooth tonal balance

The KSM32C's 3/4" embossed Mylar diaphragm gives the microphone its distinctive balance of characteristics. The capsule reproduces low frequencies with the fullness expected of a larger condenser, while maintaining a stable cardioid pattern and consistent off-axis response across the audible spectrum. The result is a smooth, even tonal balance that remains consistent across vocals, acoustic instruments, and drum overheads. Transformerless Class A electronics preserve fast transients while maintaining very low distortion and self-noise, allowing the source to retain its natural tonal character. The switchable pad and low-cut filter further extend the microphone's versatility across both delicate and high-SPL recording applications.

About Shure

The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector.
