Selmer reference neck for Alto
I use this neck on my Selmer super action 80 alto (1985)
It has vastly improved the tone.
The neck was a snug fit. Once on it is very secure.
Unfortunately Selmer lacquer is not great. I had to send the first neck back because the lacquer quickly showed signs of tarnishing and discolouration in many areas. Thomann were superb and sent me a shipping label to return free of charge and sent me a new neck without hesitation.
The new neck has also developed spotting and tarnishing in some areas. This is obviously a problem with Selmer lacquer process, which is disappointing. I kept the neck because it has really helped to improve the tone and helps the saxophone sound more like a reference 54 horn.
So I would still recommend upgrading to this type of neck, just be aware it is likely to have lacquer issues.
