Das Buch ist sehr gut strukturiert und die Schwierigkeitsstufe wird immer leicht erhöht. Nichtsdestotrotz kann man auch mal ein Kapitel/Thema überspringen, wenn man sich bereits mit dem jeweiligen Stoff auseinandergesetzt hat und schnell vorankommen möchte. Die enthaltenen Playalongs helfen dabei das erlernte Material anzuwenden und sich zu testen. Dabei wird manchmal ein Beispielsolo vorgespielt und anschließend eine Begleitung für das eigene. In anderen Fällen kann man einfach einen Kanal ausblenden, sodass nur noch Bass und Schlagzeug übrig bleiben. Wenn kein Balanceregler vorhanden ist, "stöpselt" man einfach eine Box raus oder man benutzt nur einen Kopfhörer.
Das Buch eignet sich nicht nur für Anfänger sondern auch für Fortgeschrittene bzw. angehende Jazzpiano Studenten, die ihr Wissen noch weiter festigen möchten. Die Kunst bei solcher Lektüre ist es meiner Meinung nach alles unter einen Hut zu bringen, ohne den Leser mit dem Stoff zu "erschlagen". Die Kenntnisse die hier vermittelt werden sind solide und man kann darauf aufbauen - sei es das Solospiel, Improvisation oder Comping. Selbst mit den Fingersätzen wird man nicht alleine gelassen, was gerade bei neuen Arpeggien und Skalen hilfreich sein kann.
Kurz gefasst: Breitgefächert, übersichtlich, gute Verknüpfung von Theorie und Praxis!

Wer schon immer den leichten Einstieg ins Jazz Piano suchte, wird hier fündig. Sachte Methodik über Dur und Moll mit dazugehörigen Improvisations-, Comping- und Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten bis hin zu wertvollen Tips und Infos über wichtige Künstler. Keine vorschnelle Überfrachtung mit Modi, Skalen und II-V-I-Verbindungen. Kommt alles mit der Zeit.
