A great new tape.
I bought a few of these to try out. I've used a lot of old stock tapes and use these for calibration and pleasure.
My only real problem with the new cassette, is with the shell. Sometimes the small pulleys at the bottom of the shell do not rotate or get a little stuck which can cause some problems with accurate playback.
Having said that, I haven't heard a problem on recording and playback. The sound quality is brilliant with an excellent high end response. I'd highly recommend trying one. Chrome tapes are currently not available new, however this new Ferric tape, I believe, can match them in the high end while still giving powerful bass. Channel balance is near identical.
Overall, I'm impressed with this new tape and relieved to know that a quality tape is now being manufactured today. Sometimes, you just need a brand new tape that you know is going to work well.
Looking forward to the 90 Minute version!

Excellent Type I cassette
Bias settings pretty much match those of the old BASF Ferro Extra I cassettes. This cassette being based of the SM900 reel tape, I decided to try and record it hotter than I usually do, and I was as pleasantly surprised, as I was with the SM900 when I first tried it. With levels reaching +7dB on my Nakamichi machine, the sound is crystal clear with both the treble and bass present. To my ears it is a noticeable improvement over last generation Maxell UR tapes. Looking forward to their C90 stock in August.
