An outdoor beast, with a small drawback
The LS118 packs a massive amount of low end energy in a relatively small and portable design. Compared to other outdoor rated subs, their size is easily handled by a single person thanks to the incorporated casters at the bottom. Bear in min these are NOT BRAKED, so avoid leaving this sub on the wheels on inclined surfaces.
The advertised peak dB values are pretty accurate and in combination with 2 LA108s, the sub can easily overpower the setup if pushed far. As well as the other items of the L class from QSC, it's virtually impossible to engage the limiter or the clipping LED. This said, it's important to note that it's difficult to cover over 400 people outdoor with a single SUB and outdoor events will profit from at least 2 or 4 units.
The BIGGEST potential drawback is the fact that the entire unit is DSP controlled. This considered, if the units DSP decides to die, corrupt, fail to boot or anything of the sort, the entire speaker becomes a 50kg brick and may be unrecoverable with conventional troubleshooting means.
Overall, an amazing piece of kit with a lot of power. It does cost more than an average sub, but it delivers exactly what any outdoor event needs, getting close to the larger D&B and L'acoustics kits out there.
