"bum" G-string

I had a "bum" G-string (not resonating well and sounding damped) which makes me think of a manufacturing problem. Googling diverse forums seems to indicate this is relatively commong & Thomann offered no help for replacing. If you are interested, buy the superior Thomastik strings.
