However impressive the wah effect may be, it's not that technically difficult to achieve. At the core of the wah pedal, there's a band-pass filter which is controlled by a potentiometer connected to the see-saw and which raises a specific frequency range (in continuous transition) depending on the position of the see-saw. If the pedal is in the heel position, the low mids are raised, resulting in a rather musty sound.

If you fully lower the front part (toe position), the result will be an extremely brilliant and bright sound.
