Great low cost octobans
For some reason the alternatives for getting octobans are crazy prices.
These are great value. The milennium hardware on the stands is good. Although the design seems to have changed. The version i have use tom arms like pearl tom arms, two tubes with a pivot joint in the middle. Whereas they seem to be ball joint and L-rods now like tama toms. Personally i dont like ball joints, i prefer the reliability of a solid arm. However i admit they are a little limited in positions with those arms as the teeth inside the mechanicsm limits possible angles but after a while of tinkering you can get them where you want them. L-rods have their own limits but in terms of micro adjustments of angles if thats what you want then the new design will likely be better for you.
The heads that come with them sound good.
All round just good value for money, an excellent way to add more range of percussive sounds to a kit. well worth buying both sets of sizes so you have the full 4 available octobans.
One thing i would say is, it's OCTObans thomann. where are the other 4 sizes? I'd buy them in a heart beat.

very impressive
I thought there must be a catch with these octobans as they're so cheap. I was wrong - these are aluminium shells with a surprisingly sturdy double braced stand offering multiple set up positions. I changed the stock heads immediately for better quality heads. these octobans are indistinguishable sound wise from the Japanese equivalents which you'd be paying four times more for. Very impressive product and by the way I have owned a certain Japanese equivalent in the past so it's an informed review.

Excellent quality
To start with, the stand is chunky and of excellent quality. It is thick and has strength. The only possible down point is that it doesn't extend very high but you can always take the top section out and clamp this to a heavy duty cymbal stand. The drums themselves are aluminium and yield a bright and popping sound that you'd expect. They sound fantastic even with the stock heads. I put some evans G14's on these and this really brought the drums to life! The tuning is simple and you can get a good range throughout the drums, especially with upgraded heads. I would say that these drums are just as good as the Tama octobans and would further add that they are more flexible in terms of positioning because of the more traditional tom mounting bracket and post design (as opposed to Tama slot mounts).

Happy
I was so uncertain when first viewing these drums, for the price I thought they would not be up to much but I am so happy I took the plunge and was so wrong about my intial thoughts. A great sound that equally rivals the higher priced models, sturdy and well built. A complete joy to play and a wonderful surprise. I can whole heartedly recommend them to anyone. Great price, great value

Love them!!!
I love these they are fantastic, I bought both these and the high ones and with new skins they sound outstanding!! I already had two premier ones which these are with on my kit and they all sound like a perfect match. The stands are very strong and great not flimsy at all and hold the octobans very steadily

millenium OB-1214
ive had these on my kit now for a couple of years and I love having these as extras to my kit, I use them for a lot of Arabic orchestral metal, it was mike portnoy from dream theatre who got me into them and it was that sound I was going for and I have got it, i mic'd mine up and recorded them many times and im never disappointed with the results, the stands are also great quality, I believe they are on par with the pearl stands on my kit I cant fault them and I have had them for a while now, one very happy drummer, get some an have some fun with your fills and ethnic grooves

Awesome
These Octobans are awesome, the sound is crisp and exactly what is to be expected from an Octoban. However, they are bulkier then you think, they take up more room then I expected them to, although no bigger then specified they seem to feel quite big in size and yet feel very small when being played. The sound is great it cuts through the whole band and delivers the punch they are designed to, the skins supplied with the octobans are definitely no good, I have reskinned with Remo Emperor skins and they sound excellent. The build quality is great, the lugs are strong and the stand provided is solid when tightened fully.
