Good for long runs - poor build
It's great because you can do longer cable runs or even installation tests (you detach the tester, send a signal from one side and it receives it on the other where lights light up) - so it's pretty unique in that regard.
However for short runs its tiny bit impractical, because not all lead lights light up at the same time - it always does a sweep, and build quality is rather poor. It's cheap plastic, and battery holders are cramped and clunky.
Gets the job done tho, and it's a unique tool, so all in all recommended.

Looks better than it is...
Pros
- can test many types of cables
- good for long cables
Cons
- flimsy switches
- everything about the battery compartments is badly made
- Tone test didn't work from day one (since I don't need it, I didn't return the device)
All in all, it does what I need it to do, but if you want a quality product, avoid this one.

Decent cable tester
A good selection of plugs, especially good that it has RJ-45 and DMX. But it just test connections, not signal quality or intermittent disconnections.
The build quality is ok, for being a plastic box. It is good that you can split it to test long streches of cable, but the connection has a tendency to slide apart, so it could use a bit more friction, or a lock of sorts.
