Fantastic bass!
Adrian Deans 15.05.2026
I have always loved the sound of a Ray, so this bass with all it's features and great sound really appealed to me, especially given the price. When It arrived I was very impressed with the fit and finish of the bass. It is easily on a par with my other, more expensive guitars (2 Revstars, a RSS20, RS702B and a Cort X500). It's flawless and fret are nice and polished with nice ends that wont cut your hands. The action was a bit high at first, but some truss rod and bridge adjustment made it better, though not super low. The sound was slightly muddy when I first plugged in, but lowering the pickups sorted that out too. I bought the bass mainly for the humbucker. In fact, I originally was looking at getting a Z3, but none of the colours really appealed to me, so went for the Z7 instead in 3-tone sunburst - which looks gorgeous! What surprised me is how great the J-style neck pickup sounds. It sounds beautiful and will definitely get used, so that adds to the versatility of the bass. The middle position as well has a great, scooped Marcus Miller like tone. The mid frequency sweep has a very wide range, and with plenty of gain to add or subtract, so this again, adds a lot of versatility . I really couldn't be happier with the bass. I may do a fret level at some point to try and get the action even lower, but honestly, it's fine the way it is. I would highly recommend to anyone. It is a pro instrument as far as I am concerned. Well done Sire.

Unglaublich, was da möglich ist! Sire Marcus Miller Z7-4
Waldobliss 10.07.2025

Terrible QC but sounds great
Mads8 19.06.2025
Mine arrived with several issues:

- Loose jack input
- Knobs rotate 360°, which is awkward even though they function
- Stacked knobs stick and turn together
- Poor intonation
- Bad setup overall — truss rod off, saddle misaligned, fret buzz

The bass sounds allright and plays well, but Sire's quality control is the worst I've ever seen.
